I worked at David Evans full-time

    Pros

Fair pay, good benefits, and interesting projects. The offices were in good locations and the corporate training ethic was strong.

    Cons

The corporate structure is very burdensome to the small offices. Each office is a profit center, but the corporate structure in Portland takes far too much. The office managers range from excellent to nightmare. IT resources were far below industry standard.

I have been working at David Evans

    Pros

They care about environmental sustainability, treat employees well, and practice transparency from the top down. HR and high-level management truly care about people, and it shows. This company has a large number of highly competent employees who are a pleasure to work with.

    Cons

They are in between small company mentality and large company mentality and each has its pros and cons.

I worked at David Evans full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I had a lot of opportunities to grow with the company. They allow for a lot of freedom. They provide transit passes, have flexible work schedules with every other Friday off.

    Cons

They tend to hire/promote engineers, not leaders. A lot of independent actors, and not always a lot of collaboration.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go outside your comfort zone and hire those that can lead, not simply manage design projects.

I worked at David Evans full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Working off-site for DEA was so much better than the situation most of the contract employees worked with. They treat their staff just like the would the internal DEA staff. They are not a recruiting agency, so their partnership with BPA is a unique arrangement and they are dedicated to making it the best for everyone involved

    Cons

I didn't work at their internal offices, so I can't say anything on working for them.

    Pros

David Evan's has provided career opportunities that I would not otherwise have had. They have also represented my interests well, when negotiating pay and benefits.

    Cons

There does seem to be a lack of communication, but I don't believe it is any worse than other companies I have worked for.
