    Pros

Long term prospects and good personal development programs to advance your career. They offer an in house traineeship which is comprehensive and helps develops your skills in buying and planning.

    Cons

The culture of the company has gone through several changes over the past few years and upper management has been plagued with frequent changes to board members which has led to inconsistent leadership and goal setting.

    Advice to Management

Stay on track to deliver what customers are seeking and don't rely too much on what the competition is doing. The head office team is very competent and should be rewarded more often

    Pros

Great benefits, great location. Employees are nice.

    Cons

No accountability for product delivery & Ownership. Executive leadership doesn't support change, the individual trying to make a change gets push back.

Frequent firing. Lack of communication from management.

    Advice to Management

Need change in leadership. Need to hold employees accountable to progress and deliver products on time to market.

    Pros

    - Staff discount (20%) across all departments, except furniture and electronics (10%)
    - Flexible hours after the Christmas rush
    - Above award wages
    - If you have a good manager, they will not push you to sell Amex cards
    - If you have a good manager, the work environment will be very relaxed
    - Treated like an adult and will not be pushed around by management

    Cons

    - Can be a very mind numbing job, especially when there are few customers
    - There will be some very stuck up/racist/demanding customers that you have to deal with
    - Level of job satisfaction depends largely the demeanor of your manager, supervisors and colleagues
    - Expectations to sell Amex card
    - Storage can be very messy and disorganised
    - Thrown in the deep end upon first working there

    Advice to Management

Teach new recruits more about brand knowledge instead of throwing them in the deep end and expecting them to learn everything on the job.

    Pros

Had a good staff discount back in 2012, not sure if it has changed (10-20%).
Nice to work above the city store, great location.
    Lots of nice staff.
Had a good boss, and got to go home on time, pretty happy there.
They have a trainee buyer program. Didn't do it, but a good opportunity.

    Cons

    Antiquated computers, systems, policies etc...
Lots of pressure put on the buyers. So if you had a nice boss, they take the stress and brunt of the pressure (that's what they are getting paid for), others will have meltdowns and make your job harder too.
Salary is not great, there is high turnover.

    Advice to Management

Invest in systems that help staff get through their job faster (instead of mindless data crunching), so that they can use the extra time to learn more about the job, or go home on time...

    Pros

Very fulfilling as you are making changes to your portfolio as if it is your own business
    Great staff discounts

    Cons

working approximately 50 hours a week. Overtime is not given. Extra hours are done as unspoken rule. If you unfortunately meet an un-appreciative store manager, it can be fairly de-moralising at work.

    Advice to Management

It would be great if more hours able to be spent on our business. It lifts staff morale and enables us to run our business at a much higher level.

    Pros

You get a store discount, you learn about products, you get the opportunity to meet people from different cultures and backgrounds

    Cons

Can be quite boring and not very stimulating. There are not any nice facilities for workers and people can be a bit snobby

    Advice to Management

I have no direct advice to the management. Maybe just to provide nicer facilities and better conditions for the employees
