No opportunities for advancement. Coworkers were decent, but absolutely no work/life balance.

I worked at Davis + Henderson full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Benefits weren't terrible, and pay was commensurate with similar positions at other companies, though you couldn't expect a yearly merit increase.

    Cons

No growth opportunities, professionally or personally. Administrative & departmental chaos. Total good old boys club with little vision. Company touts itself as supportive of a positive work/life balance, but the only balance they were interested in was making sure your work-life intruded into every aspect of your personal life.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No point in providing advice, since the company didn't pay attention to its own yearly employee surveys.

I worked at Davis + Henderson full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

As long as you put in your 40 hours very few people care when you are there. They are very flexible and understanding of having to work from home, or having to come in late etc. My team was very nice and helpful even though we are distributed in various offices.

    Cons

Not a lot of internal training given. Some groups are not that open to new people. Reviews were necessary but difficult to obtain. These reviewers were given too much to do to be able to review the material. Sometimes design of product was created and there was no changing it because the requirements given by the client was so specific and after these clients signed off on it everything was locked-down. Also, sometimes timing worked out that meetings that were to discuss design, were more about explaining design because it was already being coded. dental insurance sucks.

I have been working at Davis + Henderson full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great vision and many great people to work with, fairly casual work environment

    Cons

Poor compensation, while the vision is promising it is not always clear

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Before my company was acquired by this one, the leadership team was very clear with the direction of the company and different advancement opportunities. After my company was acquired by D+H, communication and advancement opportunities were very limited. This company is more focused on becoming a tech giant than having satisfied employees.

I have been working at Davis + Henderson full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great PTO - up to 6 weeks per year, casual and relaxed work environment, fantastic people and flexible work hours.

    Cons

If the company was to make a movie it would be called "Gone with the Wind". Over the past 10 years employee benefits have been slowly blown away. Today, besides average health care and company 401k matching, no real benefits remain. All of the following benefits have been offered to employees in the past: Monetary bonuses - gone with the wind; Stock options - gone with the wind; A stock purchase plan - gone with the wind, 401k bonuses - gone with the wind; Profit sharing - gone with the wind; Sabbaticals - gone with the wind. Meanwhile, large executive bonuses and other perks continue to be "wind proof" for those at the top. It’s funny how corporate cost reductions don't apply to those responsible for implementing them!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When the company is profitable, share the wealth with the folks that are building, implementing, supporting and selling the products. This company wouldn't exist without these intelligent and highly skilled individuals that are responsible for the software that pays your salaries and bonuses.

I have been working at Davis + Henderson full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

PTO benefits are awesome, 4 weeks right when you start. Don't be too discouraged by some of negative comments you see here. I read these comments before I applied and I am happy with my decision. Some managers can be a little on the hard side and may demand allot, but one thing to remember is that a lot of these managers/supervisors have been here for over 10 years-even through company acquisitions.. yes Harland was recently acquired by D+H. Your pay increases are dependent upon your work performance, and this is every year. So you do a good job, you wILL get a raise. Training is offered, and is encouraged through multiple sources as well cross-training with different departments. If you want classroom training, or a do it yourself paced training for your field that is not offered request this from your manager, they will purchase it. In my case, I Am receiving training for some Microsoft certifications. Also, there are plenty of opportunities for growth and advancement in the company and they believe in promoting from within. So if you reached the high end of the pay band for your department or position, then you should advance you career and knowledge and apply for a position in another department. They will consider you

    Cons

Health insurance benefits, not enough coverage and rising costs

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
