    I worked at DePaul University

    Pros

The office culture is very professional, yet still very fun. There's the occasional office politics but people here are very mature and level headed for the most part. You have a lot of freedom in your position and creativity and new ways of thinking are encouraged.

    Cons

The bureaucracy can be a bit much sometimes. You can't get anything passed/approved/signed in less than a week sometimes. It's annoying but it's a big school with a lot of employees so it's understandable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Being that this is an educational environment, encourage employees to continue their education more and focus on personal growth as well as personal development.

    Pros

DePaul is a very good university and cares deeply about its students. Great faculty development and some research funding opportunities.

    Cons

Deeply in debt and hiring mostly Visiting faculty, and not many TT. Tenure is increasingly difficult to get, and tends to be highly politicized.

I worked at DePaul University part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Easy work in the computer labs watching over students doing their homework. Would recommend trying to work at DePaul while studying there

    Cons

Some Management not too good. They get hired from the student population as well and they don't always know that much about actual management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just try a little harder. The guy I had was good at first and by Spring Quarter he wasn't that helpful

I worked at DePaul University part-time

    Pros

Intellectual learning environment. Some work allows for access to classes. Student pay isn't great but the benefits of classes and the overall access to a university learning environment are worth it.

    Cons

Not all departments would be great to work in.

I worked at DePaul University part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Avg. $9 an hour pay, better than minimum wage. Positive environment, flexible scheduling. The university wants you to succeed, so they understand if you have to make school a priority over student work.

    Cons

At least where I was working, the number of hours per week was capped. The idea was to keep the student from falling behind on study.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at DePaul University part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Get to know professors. Free tuition + stipend. Professors are accommodating of class schedules. You are not assigned work during finals week. Most professors are good about sticking to guidelines about workload.

    Cons

Variation in tasks/workload between professors/departments. The tasks could be more challenging.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would be nice if they would find a way to help students with their career growth.

I have been working at DePaul University full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great work-life balance and excellent benefits. Summer hours.

    Cons

No real career path. The work is repetitive and boring. If you don't love working with students it's not the place for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create more engagement across schools. People are extremely siloed.

I worked at DePaul University full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Vacation over the Christmas break.

    Cons

Lazy and mean management, terrible salary, student workers are lazy and hide from work. They are meant to be helping law students, but the management is not interested in that. They get angry if you call them to come out of their offices to answer questions for students. They do not know basic law terms. Astonishing! Horrible treatment of staff. Turnover was constant for the job I had. Everyone else was a lifer. There was a robbery of a purse and a laptop while I worked there because no one kept out the bums. Just horrible in every way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to the management is to retire. They have no interest in anything to do with the work. And they know NOTHING. Also, DO NOT bully and lie to your staff. You need to realize that scheduling a person to work for 14 consecutive days with NO time off is against the law.
