    Pros

The company is packed with top people in their respective fields. The company is always keeping up with technology and how it applys to day to day buisiness. Management at all levels is very knowledgable.

    Cons

It seems like you have to wait for someone to die or retire before a position will open up so you can advance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of those old white farts and stop giving women in the trades are hard time. Make sure you deliver porta potties even if there aren't women on the site.

    Solid company to work for

I have been working at DeSilva Gates Construction

    Pros

Good work environment, with great health benefits. Work is always interesting and challenging. Fast paced during the high season, will need to be able to multi-task.

    Cons

Wage compensation is on the low side compared to other companies, with annual raises kept to a minimum. Growth is limited, advancing within the company is extremely difficult.

    Pros

    Good pay and benefit package.

    Cons

Company is out for one thing...money. People and clients are meaningless to DeSilva Gates. DeSilva Gates pushes "relationships" with clients and employees. The "relationship" falls apart as soon DeSilva Gates can gain by screwing either a client or an employee. Worst experience and mistake of my life. STAY AWAY!!!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat clients and employees with respect and the profits will soar. Fighting for every dollar only pays off in the short term.

I have been working at DeSilva Gates Construction as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

The staff is amazing. They are all friendly and easy to get along with. From the upper management to the common laborer, they have the drive and know-how to get their jobs done. Safety is a priority and regarded above all else, even profit.

    Cons

Long days and repetitive projects may wear down some, but their staff and workers are never dull. They specialize in the roadwork industry and as such do little but grade, rock, and pave.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep your eyes on the prize.

A good company to work for. A big company with a small company feel.

    Pros

Great training and a lot of good knowledge sharing. A great place to begin a career. Company is committed to developing talent from within the ranks and is also willing to make investments in new technology. There is a lot of pride and a sense of extended family amongst employees. Management is friendly and approachable and you feel like they take an interest in your career development and progress.

    Cons

Being a private company there appears to be a nepotistic approach to promotion. Talking about salaries amongst employees is frowned upon, as it seems like there is a wide range of salary offerings for new employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Being more honest and equitable about starting salaries will go a long way to establishing trust with employees.
