I have been working at DeVries Global full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

DeVries is hands down one of the best companies in the industry. I’m surprised by a few of the junior staff reviews - I’ve worked at several PR agencies in NYC, and DeVries is truly a remarkable company. Most agencies don’t offer the perks, accessible senior staff, work/life balance and mentorship that DeVries provides. DeVries has an amazing work culture, plenty of opportunities for all employees, along with great staff and mindset. The agency is full of smart and very nice people and everyone is willing to help and answer questions. The higher level execs are very accessible (not hierarchical) and there is so much you will learn by working at this agency - both strategically and creatively. Perks include manicure mondays, bar cart fridays, very generous PTO, flexible work from home policy, summer fridays and closed office between Christmas and New Years.

    Cons

Pay could be higher - however, I justify it with the perks and PTO.

I worked at DeVries Global full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

vacation time interesting clients (however they've lost a bunch recently) bar cart (although it went from every friday to once a month)

    Cons

if you want to join an organization with catty, immature former sorority girls who are all miserable and looking to leave, devries is the place for you. i think a couple people left every month I was there. the turnover was ridiculous. also, the pay was so low it was laughable. living in new york solely on an ac/jae devries salary is impossible. there's no team environment; everyone is watching everyone else for mistakes so they can throw each other under the bus. senior employees embarrassing junior employees in front of managers in emails was a frequent occurrence. jobs are in jeopardy since the firm is losing accounts. many very senior people (evp etc) were laid off. beware of the hell that is devries...

    Advice to Management

wake up. stop treating junior staff like slaves. also "suck it up" is not helpful advice.

    Pros

Generous vacation time, bar cart, summer Fridays, free cereal.

    Cons

Gossip, catty, back-stabbing culture. Complete antipathy towards junior employees; unwillingess to remedy serious issues within teams and among coworkers. Senior employees regularly left at 5:30 while account coordinators and junior account executives stayed until 9, 10, 11pm, thus horrendous work life balance. Losses of extremely important, high-quality and revenue-generating clients. Sinking ship, unstable, pessimitic feeling for the future of the company. High turnover (especially among leadership recently), understaffed, organization structure is confusing and unclear, high stress environment, low morale set by senior management, very little employee appreciation hence the high turnover. This was the worst place I have ever worked. I'm so grateful to be gone. Stay away.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate and value junior staff. Don't call the group of people working on an account a team if senior employees aren't willing to unload some of the work off of the more junior members.

I have been working at DeVries Global full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great clients and great employees - this agency respects individuals and in turn respects personal time. Some internal processes are restricted due to IPG Policies but the agency strives to set and live by its own culture. The PTO allocation is generous and the agency currently offers summer Fridays (3pm finish June-Aug), additional benefits are appreciated. Smaller agency feel with global agency opportunities and vision.

    Cons

Certain restrictions/policies set by parent company.

    Advice to Management

Continue to ask for and listen to feedback - it works.

    Pros

Lots of intelligent people work here, big name clients

    Cons

There is no value on lower level employees. They bear the burden of the workload and upper management does nothing to help. The company claims to value work-life balance, but there is close to none.

    Advice to Management

Please keep your lower level employees in mind.

I have been working at DeVries Global full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

DeVries is a well oil machine with a set of strategic and creative thinkers. The 360 collaboration and brand planning is far above traditional pr standards.

    Cons

While there have been efforts to improve work-life balance among the entire company there are teams that are working late hours around the clock and then others that seem to stick to company office hours.

    Advice to Management

Senior management should regulate each teams work load and consider staffing where needed.
