Overall a good experience, poor career development and pay.

    Career Services (Current Employee)

ProsFree Education as an Employee! Benefits are decent, but increasingly expensive each year.

ConsPoor career growth, weak management structure, advancement for those who re part of the "boy's club."

Advice to Senior ManagementWork on advancing and growing current employees who are top performers and are dedicated.

    You're a telemarketer

Academic Advisor (Former Employee) Naperville, IL

ProsPay, benefits right away, team atmosphere

ConsYou harass people until they specifically tell you to quit calling them, not what they make it out to be in interview, which is why they are continually training new hires. If you don't mind sitting at a desk all day and when you finally get someone on the phone they are pissed that you and everyone else calling them won't stop

Advice to Senior ManagementCome up with a better system to try and get new students, harassing people via phone and email is not something you personally would want done

    Employee culture good..Sales environment though

    Operations (Current Employee) Decatur, GA

ProsGreat team environment and employees tend to be repectful of others. Dedicated faculty to teaching their students and seeing them succeed. Flexible work schedule.

ConsFalse advertisement in their job descriptions. Very, very numbers driven environment which takes the fun out of really enjoying your job. Weak brand in the job market and student population are of a poor caliber.

Advice to Senior ManagementHR Mangement: Change This - Almost half of IPP is evaluated on you making the numbers (90%). Even when you may perform well in your job, your evaluation is contigent upon others at DeVry, your teammates, students, etc., to do their part as well when you have NO control over how others may perform in their role.

Job satisfaction very much depends on the department you are in.

Student Financial Analyst (Former Employee) Wood Dale, IL

ProsBenefits (health and retirement) are pretty good, lots of overtime (good if hourly). Training and keeping employees updated is important to DeVry.

ConsVery long hours for some departments, pay for certain departments were average at best. Some managers were placed with employees that they didn't know how to work with. (My last position, I had a manager who was 70 and didn't believe in the internet, leading a team of 20 who were all under the age of 25)

Advice to Senior ManagementMake sure you reward those employees who are doing the best work.

Online division needs a full make-over...

Online Employee (Current Employee) Naperville, IL

    ProsVacation time, industry of education

ConsManagement is scattered at the Online office, shows biased to their favorites employees, clear separation with the rest of population. See advise below...

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on the core education of DeVry (BS / Masters), you are putting your hands into too many pots (other schools) and then dropping them. This is leaving your employees confused as workload is all over the place. The quality of DeVry has definitely gone down over the years.

Also, get NEW leadership at the Online office in Naperville, the VP mainly and directors are not promoting employee's overall well being. There is a solid resentment towards upper management here - the lies, fake promises are too much now while employees are doing their part.

    Work experience at DeVry Inc.

Human Resources (Former Employee) Downers Grove, IL

ProsGreat colleagues, ethical organization, committed to its students and the ongoing development of its employees. Encouraged and supported community involvement and volunteerism. Lots of job satisfaction.

ConsLong hours, heavy workloads sometimes difficult to handle, however, flex time options are available for many to maintain work/life balance.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to support your staff. Work better with each other and break down silos.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
