I have been working at Dealertrack Technologies

    Pros

From the first day I started working in the office, the entire staff has been helpful, friendly and extremely welcoming. The atmosphere is very laid back, fun and collaborative. The 2 offices I have worked/trained at offer different perks such as yoga classes, chair massages, coffee/tea bars and organic kitchens. The training was very hands on and educational and there is plenty of opportunity for growth within the company!

    Cons

    I haven't experienced anything negative.

I have been working at Dealertrack Technologies (more than a year)

    Pros

There are a few things that are great about thus company. One is the dress code. It is very relaxed so the team members are comfortable. The other is the flexibility of scheduling.

    Cons

There isn't much room for advancement unless you are gossip partners with the manager and supervisors. There is a lot of favoritism especially when the upper management "needs a favor" to bail them out. Family members of the executive (VP) get special treatment and aren't held to the same standard as everyone else. Internet usage (outside of job description) isn't allowed for privacy reasons (completely understandable) but the family members can shop while on conference calls? If the company is supposed to be one Dealertrack then all team members need to be held at the same standard. Don't create an exception based on the position or relationship. Better pay would be ideal. Minimum wage and less than 35 hours per week doesn't allow people to live, it only allows them to help get by week to week. We are broke from paycheck to Monday. Help those who line your pockets with bonuses and six figure salaries.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at your employees and see where they can be better utilized. The pay needs to be adjusted drastically. Not all department's have the same work criteria therefore pay shouldn't be either.

I have been working at Dealertrack Technologies

    Pros

Dealertrack is hiring often (due to high turn over rate). Dealertrack is growing so fast, they can't keep up with it. Good location in nassau county (NY). Large company, you will meet a lot of people (some good, some not so good).

    Cons

Management is POOR. Not in all departments, but most. Team members are crammed in an over-crowded office with crap everywhere (but in 2018 they're moving to a new location, and they'll remind you of this 500 times a day). The upper management can't seem to keep good "lower" team members because of their unrealistic expectations. Such as (but not limited to): demanding overtime, zero work life balance (even though at your interview they'll cram that down your throat), reject requested time off (partly because turn over rate is so high they're always training someone), they hire temps however you're not treated as "part of the team", nasty attitudes and dirty looks from over-worked and under-paid team members, the software system they use is a disaster. It doesn't work properly and it will leave you with ample stressful days and nights (sorry I can't elaborate). Very unorganized for a large company. When I was hired I was interviewed by 5 people. By my 1st day, two team members had quit. If you're looking for a company with policy/procedures this is not the place for you. If you like constant changes with no direction from week to week this is your spot! Good luck submitting ideas or solutions...they will be ignored or brushed under the rug due to the extreme workloads.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Smile. You're attitude and demeanor filter down and can bring positivity and productivity. With hard work there should be reward (or a "thank you") would be just as good too.

    Pros

Laidback, fun company culture. Good work life balance. I genuinely like all of my co-workers. Not so micromanaging
Good health benefits (like, really good)
    401k match

    Cons

    Pay is below standard
internal processes are a constant mess
With so many different products, all of the products are silo-ed and people don't know how each one of them works. Yet, the vision is to be "One Dealertrack" with no one knowing how each 1 of the products works within their own department.
    No career growth.

Great vision; not applied at business unit level

    I worked at Dealertrack Technologies

    Pros

The work-like balance and benefits are good. Corporate has a great vision of the type of employer and company Dealertrack should be.

    Cons

The corporate vision is not applied at the business unit level. At other locations, professionals are not treated as such. They are required to leave coats, purses, etc. in small lockers or in their vehicle. Restrooms are on the "secure" side of the facility, making discrete transport of personal items to the restroom difficult if not impossible. Manager level independent contributors work in call center and production environments where it is very loud and difficult to concentrate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I recommend that Mark O'Neil ensure his vision is executed in all locations. I recommend personally visiting sites and interviewing employees. You lost this employee due to local culture and environment. Also, it should be required that Directors/Managers with direct reports visit the team members at their location for a minimum of 16 days a year, sitting in the cube farm! Please also not safety items.

I have been working at Dealertrack Technologies full-time

    Pros

As the company is in a rapid period of acquisition, roles and duties can be poorly defined. Network Analysts spend much of their time assisting with help desk/hardware support issues. There is a lot of room for personal development (more or less depending on the shift you work), and at least in the Groton office, management encourages personal development exercises.

Dealertrack will reimburse tuition, and pay for certifications related to the field in which you work.

    Cons

I haven't found any. Sometimes you will be required to work overtime, but as an hourly employee with free time on his hands, this doesn't bother me. As a salaried employee with a busy personal life, I could see how it would be detrimental.

    Pros

The people in my department are very laid-back and nice.

    Cons

The work is very repetitive and boring. There is very little chance to grow or get promoted. The pay us also on the low end.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Even though a job doesn't required a degree, the workers should be rewarded for their hard work with a raise in salary or a bonus of some sort. Give incentives to the workers so they will perform their best.

    Pros

Co-workers pre-2014. Teamwork, partnership, and common goals were clear before 2014. Many new projects and opportunities to grown. Post March 2014 the company (culture, products, teams) has been in a downward spiral.

    Cons

There has been a shift in the direction of Dealertrack since the acquisition of Dealer.com. Each company has very different cultures, and there have been significant clashes in many departments. Technology, Marketing, and Human Resources departments now report to Dealer.com leadership. Unfortunately the Dealer.com team lack experience in leadership and in professionalism. Everyday there's another story shared about the level of disrespect and disregard by Dealer.com employees. Frustration and anger is prevalent in many Dealertrack offices. All attempts to resolve issues have been ignored. Dealer.com is full steam ahead without regard or apparent awareness of the mess they're creating. Key Dealertrack managers with vast experience have either left already or are in the interview process. The voice of employees is ignored by the executive team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Executive Team - You've turned your back on Team Members and they are leaving. Take the time to find out why and do something about it. Listen more. The evidence is in front of you. In addition, you've been selling off your stock and it's driving the stock price down. It's as if you're jumping ship too.
