    Cons

A dedicated employee had opportunities..for advancement..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Last 4 years of employment upper management knew about plant closing and did not tell employees until 2 months before closer this could have been communicated earlier and the transfer of employees to the sister could have been on a more professional basis.

    Pros

    Good compensation
Discounts with other major companies for working at Deans

    Cons

Too many changes that creates more problems than resolutions
Unreasonable expectations on deadlines. Some deadlines are due on Saturday or Sunday night

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Completely understand the entire impact of major changes being made before making the changes

    Pros

Big company, you can learn a fair amount if you are inclined. Benefits and pay are decent particularly if you are middle management or higher

    Cons

Strategy has been the same for years but is not working. CEO was put in place to continue to execute flawed plant closure strategy of former CEO. Company needs to grow to survive but unfortunately new leadership has no clue how to build a new market viable strategy. Company circling the drain.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get new strategy

I have been working at Dean Foods full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Stability - It is important to provide good wholesome milk to our community. Dean Foods is committed to a great product bringing safety first to their employees.

    Cons

Dean Foods was an acquisition company. As they purchased dairy after dairy they hired people outside the company. ( Consultants ). Many people came from Pepsi. For those already with the company there has been no chance of moving up in the organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at regional brands and fully enhance your trademarks to their full potential. Look internally for talent. Experience is valuable and milk being a commodity is not like soda.

    Pros

Great company to work for and great people to work with. Very good opportunities and a pleasure to come to work each day.

    Cons

Most workers are contract and they seem ok with that and it's just the nature of the business to be concerned about your future.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please keep up the great work and remember that your workers are the most important asset.

I have been working at Dean Foods full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Health Care Benefits and Customer Service to Vendors.

    Cons

If you like to get paid salaried 40 hours per week, and work 80 hours per with with no overtime pay, no family life balance, this is the place for you. Hours are from 4am to 7pm
Management say they will fix, but that just to make you happy at the moment.
Co-workers are very frustrated with all the work, milk orders are cut, then the customer screams at you because they did not get their delivery on time
This job would not be bad if Routes were managed correctly. I don't mind working extra, but 4-5 hours sleep is not enough for a driver.

Get ready to come home to a sleeping family and wake up to a sleeping family.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you say your are going to make changes, take the actions to make the change and stop taking your employees for granted. Without the employees there is no business.

    Pros

Leading playing in their industry. Could be dominant player in a low margin high cash flow business.

    Cons

Former CEO and current CEO practice the worst kind of corporate excess you can imagine. Huge stock grants to themselves, corporate planes, golden parachutes, BOD full of cronies etc. etc. etc Avg salary of these 2 guys is/was nearly 100x the avg employee and over last 5 years stock price is down 25 percent and Dairy Business has lost 50 percent of earnings. Now they want to take a bow because they laid off a bunch of people after losing a bunch of WalMart business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leave and let someone who is interested in building the business and the employees into the potential that Dean Foods has
