I have been working at Dean Foods full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

A well defined business structure - you know who reports to you and who you report to. At my location 98% of the people are what make the facility so great. Excellent boss and coworkers- we are a team.

    Cons

Previously there was a more negative environment, but I think that this is changing as plant leadership has changed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at what people are doing at the plant level in terms of cost savings and apply it at the corporate level.

I have been working at Dean Foods as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Great company to work for and great people to work with. Very good opportunities and a pleasure to come to work each day.

    Cons

Most workers are contract and they seem ok with that and it's just the nature of the business to be concerned about your future.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please keep up the great work and remember that your workers are the most important asset.

I have been working at Dean Foods full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

They promote from within, I have had many opportunities to continue to grow in my time here at Dean Foods. They believe in training and providing stretch opportunities to build new skills.

    Cons

Economic conditions have slowed the pace of growth a bit, but still a great place to work. Changes in the organization are impacting morale as possible layoffs loom in the distance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communication is the most important tool in keeping employee morale high.

I have been working at Dean Foods

    Pros

There are a lot of opportunities to learn and grow. The company is great at communicating out changes in policies or services to employees and working to ensure that everyone is on the same page. Everyone is super friendly and helpful, and it is easy to get things accomplished.

    Cons

The PTO policy is not the most employee friendly I've ever seen. There are no sick days, and even absences with a doctor's note are considered unexcused. However, this is due to the nature of the plant work, although the policy covers all employees.
