I have been working at Decathlon Sports India full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – >> A rich heritage, global presence, opportunities to learn new sports (I learnt Archery/ Golf/ Fishing), young work atmosphere, flat hierarchy, Open Door policy (the open office of CEO is a simple table in the center of the office- which boosts of true philosophy of the company- Simple & Low Cost and surely, an accessibility to approach just anyone.
>> Individual meeting on a regular time frame- lets one express his pleasures/displeasures directly, team meetings- which are sporty and gives direction to individual and team projects,
>> Flexi work timings (of course depends on the manager and type of project);
>> Possibility of doing anything in the company (you can go from store to expansion to finance.. anything is possible).
>> very high level of responsibility @ a very young age
Cons – >> Tough working conditions, does not believe in Luxury living.
>> cares only about behavior but not educational qualifications or past experience (decathlon judges everyone in its own unique ways)- sometimes upsets some prospective candidates.

I have been working at Decathlon Sports India as a contractor for less than a year
Pros – I always wanted to do something for sports and seeked it as an opportunity to do something good for the sports.
Cons – 1. Work 6 days a week and for more than 10 hrs a day.
2. No scope of learning.
3. No training provided.
4. If you are hired on contract, then they will differentiate between you and the other employees.
Advice to Senior Management – Working 6 days a week creates more physical/mental stress. Team meeting which is supposed to happen every month doesnt happen even if it happens contract employees are left in office to work.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

I have been working at Decathlon Sports India full-time for more than a year
Pros – Opportunity, Autonomy and the best work culture you will ever find. There isn't a place in this country which will treat you like an entreprenuer and not micro manage you. The crowd is fantastic, the management is friendly, the work culture is liberal and all they ask for is professionalism. And best of all, everyone is connected by one common denominator - Passion for SPORT.
Cons – Demanding environment which makes you work hard, but rewards well

I have been working at Decathlon Sports India full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – 1/ Great concept of retailing;
2/ True belief on just one aspect: SATISFACTION OF THE CUSTOMERS. All activities lead to achieve just this objective;
3/ Great place for people to work and grow (provided they are ambitious, believe in competition, possess fighting spirit and smart to derive solution and not crib about problems);
4/ Young working atmosphere- sporty, trendy and ambitious group.
Cons – I dont really see a cons if one is determined to find a solution of his/her problem.
Advice to Senior Management – 1. Do insist to share with all the young managers about their personal desire and professional desire.
One's self discovery is important in this company for a sustainable growth and long term association.

I have been working at Decathlon Sports India
Pros – - Allowed to assume responsibility irrespective of age, background etc : allows for young managers
- Allowed to make mistakes and learn, will be guided when need be
- Each person has the decision making ability, as long as the project proposed is viable
- Open door policy: you can walk up to anyone from your manager to your managers manager anytime, as and when / if need be
- You choose your career path and progress, company is entirely performance based. You perform well, you will reap the benefits of your labour
- Best part: zig-zag growth. You need not venture out to seek a different role say you want to explore opportunities in another domain. Of course, movement will be validated if you have proved your mettle
Cons – - Working 6 days a week sometimes, takes a toll on you

I have been working at Decathlon Sports India full-time for less than a year
Pros – Granted autonomy in most cases, No clear training as such s you figure things out along the way. wide range of experience, and the opportunity to meet brilliant everyday people who are really passionate about sports.
Cons – Take Low cost to the next level, expect to do anything and everything required, right from customer negotiations to sweeping the floor, which in itself is not necessarily a bad thing, but in the name of cost cutting is a terrible waste of resources. an analogy would be using a supercomputer to add 2 and 2. Your targets are preset at the beginning of the year where your say does not matter at all, and the same will be non negotiable/ changeable, regardless of changing market condition's stock levels. Bonus seems very exciting in the initial offer, but the criteria are multiple and you realize at the end of the day that most of them are out of your control. Salary levels are massively disproportionate between local and expats, with no discernible value add. Middle/upper management is completely expat based, with growth from within the local ranks being minimal to non existent. have worked with some of the most brilliant people from various backgrounds, but have seen them leave time and time again with a bitter taste in their mouth. Criteria for progress are very non commital and arbitrary.
Advice to Senior Management – Introspection into where the company is headed and who it is headed there with is required.

Pros – The brand name is good to be in your resume
Cons – Salary structure is made confusing and u will never get most of the benefits mentioned in the package. Too much of politics inside the company and there is definitely a lack of direction. They do not even have a good ERP package to work on.

I worked at Decathlon Sports India full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Its gives you exposure to do your own thing, because there is no set method for doing work, no plan, no strategy. So its up to you to make your own way.
Great vision, but thats where it ends.
Cons – Probably one of the worst work environments to start and end ones career.
Dont get taken in by the vision thats spelt out, sounds good but amounts to nothing.
Be prepared to work with the French, they dont do much, just order the natives around, very neo-colonial.
Not transparent, will make you work hard for nothing, long stick, small carrot, with absolutely no increase in salary, however the French employees doing the same work as the Indians get paid phenomenal salaries and perks.
Advice to Senior Management – Advice can be given only if they are prepared to listen, in this case they are not. Management is French trying to work in India, total disconnect.
