    Pros

They hire well and there is great culture on certain teams.

    Cons

The bathrooms are disgusting/lack of conference rooms/they don't pay close to industry standards for digital/social work.

    Advice to Management

Stop thinking about revenue and focus on consistency especially during a merger. Stop shifting teams for revenue and focus on employee morale. If you don't reward your best talent with salary or titles they will leave.

    Pros

Deep Focus is a great place to work. You come and go as a happy employee. The people and the culture is by far the best quality of the company which (as in every company) can sometimes be taken for granted. Managers listen to what their employees have to say and the company has nice perks and opportunities. The business is new and challenging and the creativity and innovation is unmatched. Benefits and HR are great however compensation needs to be brought up to industry standards for young employees where $$ is a bigger factor.

    Cons

It's hard to tell who exactly is running the company.... There are no clear lines of communication up the ladder.

    Advice to Management

Executive management could benefit from some diversity at the top. Reward your top talent in the middle of the ranks who are most responsible for the company's growth and success... They are at the heart of the grind and are most likely to leave if unsatisfied.

    Pros

Opportunity to make things happen - if you dream it, you can try it. It may not work
Little oversight from management - this allows for some freedom but is also a con

    Cons

Senior Leaders, save the CEO, do not seem very strong
    Company shifts direction a lot

    Advice to Management

Figure out what you want to be and be it. Stop chasing the bright, shiny object of the moment and build a business.

    Pros

    - You get to learn a lot about digital and how technical side of things.
    - Most people are nice

    Cons

a year or so ago, it was a small 50(ish) person agency. It grew to about just under 200 in just over a year. Here are the troubles of this:

    - no structure. everyone feels entitled and has input about how things should be run - which leads no nothing getting done.
    - You have a lot of people who say they know what they're doing but too young in their career to really understand
    - As an employee, you are stuck between conflicting reports/orders from multiple stakeholders, and are forced to redo so much work because of it.
    - growth is limited

    Advice to Management

take a closer look at the way things are run, how blurred the lines are, and how much effort is reproduced. Project management is in shambles because of a bad egg on a power trip, and this is the one department that can bring everything together.

    Pros

Deep Focus is a great company with nice internship opportunities for recent grads or current college students. They are well organized and respected. Highly recommend to any college student looking to learn more about the advertising industry.

    Cons

Cannot think of any at the moment.

    Pros

There are some smart and cool people working here. Some of the projects were interesting.

    Cons

Unfortunately a lot of the people were young and/or inexperienced and typically in over their head. Other issues: small office, lack of sufficient conference rooms, poor communication in general.

    Advice to Management

Get a better office and work on team camaraderie. This place lacks fun and personality.

Agency who still wears rose colored glasses.

    Pros

The agency has great talented people across departments who are willing to work long hours for a project - and overall have an optimistic view of the agency, despite the obvious upper management problems.

    Cons

Leadership has no concept of how they are utilizing their resources. Creative is over worked and under managed and agency account teams over service the client causing even more stress among the jobs. Project management is scrambling to attempt to keep project moving forward since there are so few for a 120+ person agency.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your teams and their complaints! Saying things will change in the monthly all agency meeting is completely different from following through, especially when the major complaint is work/life balance and being overworked. You will loose your best resources - your people!

    Pros

The people are so awesome - intelligent, clever/witty, really nice. Everyone gets along, no drama. Everyone is hard working and willing to put in their share. Management has the experience to make good decisions and genuinely cares about improving the company without changing the culture. Entrepreneurial atmosphere.

    Cons

Managers are often too busy to help support you and invest in your growth. Everyone seems to be strapped for time and over resourced (whether that's true or not is another story). Some teams have an obviously awful work/life balance, while others are pretty much able to keep to the office hours. Pay is a little less than competitive (within the range but on the lower side).

    Advice to Management

Take time to map out your junior staff's careers. Help them navigate and understand their role in the overall "business" of the agency.

    Pros

Nice people, decent work, relaxed atmosphere, great brands as clients.

    Cons

Not a lot of direction, expertise in strategy was light, creative team sometimes were critical.

    Advice to Management

Be more hands on, help facilitate team dynamics.
