I worked at Defence Science & Technology Agency full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good work life balance. Two hour extended lunch time seems very acceptable here. Staff often go to Vivo or Ikea for lunch for two long hours. Very good pay with not much work and with many bonuses. Good benefits like flexible benefits can claim travel, dental, etc.

    Cons

Lots of red tape. And restrictive policy like cannot bring ipad, laptop or thumb drive into office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Have less red tape.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Defence Science & Technology Agency full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Although it follows the typical strict bureaucratic structure of a government organisation, the management has been trying to 'break-out' of this setting by promoting Work-life balance, and is trying to move into a more open-office concept.
As for opportunities, it really depends on the department and project you're posted to. Some managers will really fight for their staff for promotions and better rankings. Very good pay and bonus over time and a solid job you can work at until you retire.

    Cons

Depending on where you are working at, it can be extremely boring, monotonous and de-moralizing. Almost everyone I know from the company wants to leave but has a hard time finding a better paying job. Some bosses simply dislike you or have their own ideas on how things should be done and creativity can therefore be said to be somewhat stifled there. But what can you really expect from a bureaucratic organization?
Overall if you can get used to it, the pros do outweigh the cons.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try thinking more towards future growth of your staff and team rather than being myopic and unwilling to accept fresh ideas. They are the ones who will take over when you leave, so motivating your employees rather than stomp down on them would be better for the organization as a whole.

My supervisors and the other employees were very friendly. We were not micro-managed, and the workload given to us was manageable.

I have been working at Defence Science & Technology Agency full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Work life balance is achievable. Pay is above average at least for non-scholar and colleagues are fun to work with.

    Cons

Too much paper submission and sometimes overly focus on innovation which tends to force things through and not much results.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have seen lots of scholar left the company after their bond period.

I have been working at Defence Science & Technology Agency full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Rather satisfied with the pay with its total package.
Have flexi hour of reporting to work and off work.
    Good office working environment.

    Cons

    Users are very demanding.
Scholars tend to have better work scope and opportunities and promotion chance.
A lot of secondary roles such as meetings secretary, ECA such as welfare committees, etc.
    A lot of processes
Depends on which boss you are reporting to, because the boss may be micro-managing you.
Overall pay package may get stagnant or become flat after 8 years of working.
Some papers are very difficult to clear because the Users simply do not want to commit and approved.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please take care of the non-scholars in terms of pay package as they are also working very hard on the ground.
Lessen the frequency of the meetings and report writing as Engineers would need time on the ground to work things out.
