    Pros

Good work life balance. Two hour extended lunch time seems very acceptable here. Staff often go to Vivo or Ikea for lunch for two long hours. Very good pay with not much work and with many bonuses. Good benefits like flexible benefits can claim travel, dental, etc.

    Cons

Lots of red tape. And restrictive policy like cannot bring ipad, laptop or thumb drive into office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Have less red tape.

    Pros

There is good work life balance. Interesting and dynamic working opportunities where we can go overseas for testing etc, but depends on the project and phase of project.

    Cons

Work can be monotonous. Can put in a lot of effort to complete some task which in the end is not used due to changes in projects. Can be hard to tackle the high demand when handling several projects.

    Pros

A great place for fresh graduates to middle career level. Opportunities for personal growth. Good bonus package. Values technical staff. Invests in staff competency and skills development.

    Cons

Job scope can be better defined to allow better focus on areas of expertise. Technical staff may find it difficult to transit to management roles if not selected to be on the track.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look beyond traditional metrics for selecting staff for management track. Better define the job scope to allow staff to present their best value.

    Pros

the compensation and prospect for engineers and scholars are much better than corporate staffs. it is a stable job and compensation can be pretty attractive for a government sector

    Cons

the red tapes due to the industry nature can be quite a handful.

    Pros

Relatively high annual income for engineering job in Singapore.
Relatively young workforce that creates a vibrant work environment.

    Cons

Project management experience and technical skills attained from job are unique to the organisation/industry and barely transferable to other industries or job roles, especially in the private sector.
Can be demoralising when career progression appears bleak.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appraisal process can be improved - too much emphasis on contributions outside one's expected job scope, overlooking how well staff contributes to his/her job responsibilities. In my opinion, this instils wrong values in staff, and does little to contribute to work productivity.

    - Good working relationship with colleagues

    Pros

-Excellent work-life balance (if you are an engineer)
-Comfortable pay. One of the best in the public sector.
    -Opportunities (debatable)

    Cons

-Plenty of opportunities if you are willing to fight for it. However, for non-scholars you will be at a disadvantaged position, as the scholars have all the right networks and such. However, in my opinion, the scholar prejudice is not too bad in DSTA compared to other government agencies. It is a big organization after all.
-Not enough challenge at times. Slow-paced, risk-adverse working style of bosses means that the work can be quite boring.
    -No camera phones!
