Pros
New experience and learning new skills.
Cons
Training needs to be more structured. People should not be able to have side bar conversations that distract from the speaker. Also, information that is intended for universal dissemination to the whole group is often only disseminationated to one or few. For example, if a question is asked by a participant then the question should be repeated for all to know what the question was, before answering. I can imagine someone saying I answered that question in training, but not realizing everyone didn't hear or know what they were talking about. I am also concern that some of the training classes are too large.
Advice to Senior Management
You may want to address some internal customer issues. I understand your philosophy with regard to external customers, but not sure that is being extended to new customers.
Pros
There are chances to relocate if that is something your looking for. They have opprotunities all over the world.
Cons
There are more managers, supervisors, director of operations, head chef, floor supervisors, etc etc than you can shake a stick at. In the food service field DNC has some of the lowest paid staff, and yet they budget untold thousands to people who walk around literally not knowing what their job is. Daily some suit comes walking by to pick at our staff meal, when asked what he does there, he chuckled " To be honest I have no idea".
Advice to Senior Management
Enjoy the ride boys. I know 75 percent of you did not get there on your merits.
Pros
Great pride in working for KSCVC. Everyone who works here is proud to be a part of telling the NASA story and sharing the Mission. Delaware North I feel takes pride in bringing that experience to our guests/
Cons
Sometimes hours are long and support is light
Advice to Senior Management
Trust your managers, let them do their jobs. Sometimes cutting back help is counterproductive. Allow us to use our talents and make our mistakes. It is how we learn.
Pros
one of the best reasons to work at delaware north is the atmosphere, you get to know the people you are working with and form a sports job relationship and its awesome!
Cons
if you are a sports fan it gets really hard not being able to watch the games, you hear all the excitement going on outside and when its busy you cant really step out to take all of that excitement in
Advice to Senior Management
some of the supervisors based on performance should make more money the seat vendors make a lot more than us most of the time and i feel like we work just as hard and do not see as much of the money
Pros
Good benefit. and a safe place to work>
Cons
Cannot sell if the product is not available.
Advice to Senior Management
. Reward your good employees. Have a courtesy to ask the employee before making change on his or her schedule.
Pros
DNC is and desires to be a leader in the industry. They can provide excellent training and career advancement for those who perform on a high level. Also, the nature of the hospitality business requires constant adaptation to provide the best experience for the customer and meet the business goals set. The corporate office is responsive to the needs at the local level.
Cons
At the entry level, this is the food business and the pay is low compared to other professions. An employee can be held down by a general manager and/or area manager for different reasons. If an employee is performing multifunctions at a high level for a low salary, they may not be reccommended for advancement and/or rewarded for their efforts because they can not be replaced efficiently. An employee's loyalty and perfomance can be overlooked by their GM and used to advance their own careers. This goes beyond favoritism or personality conflicts, it simply can be what's best for the GM's bottom line. When a loyal, experienced employee has taken on numerous tasks with minimum staff , is totally consumed time-wise, and performing at a high level, opportunities can go to other managers who simply have more time, less responsibility and more support. When a GM hires a manager from the street without giving the opportunity to a high performing supervisor within, that supervisor is left feeling unappreciated and stuck in a rut.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to be the leader in the industry and to evaluate more completely GMs. Encourage area managers to look beyond just the GM's opinions of their direct reports and actually search for talent that can benefit the company beyond their direct report.
Pros
Unit co-workers have a very strong bond. We've become an extended family.<3
Cons
Unfair treatment from managment. Double Standards. Nitpicking, Immature Managment
Advice to Senior Management
Please listen to the associates of DNC. We are not your associates, we share that title with you. We are equals and want to be treated as with respect!
Pros
The handouts and boasts of esigned/systematic procedure for customer service techniques
are impressive to read... A "model template" for companies to follow.
Cons
DNC boasts of their designed/systematic procedure for Guest-stewardship...aka GuestPath.
but...they're missing the real potential of enhancing their most valuable asset...their employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Design an EmployeeStewardship Path that matches the GuestPath ideals,
a systematic procedure to train manager/leaders on 'employee-stewardship'.
When you become the company that employees Rave about,
you’ll become a company that customers Rave about.
Build a Path with employees in mind.
People who feel good about themselves produce good results.
Happier employees = happier guests/customers = better production, better bottom line.
...and I, I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference. ~~~RobFrost
Pros
I like the people that I work with
Cons
benefits are hard to acquire
Advice to Senior Management
be more flexible when time is needed off
Pros
Laid back work environment but, management with the support of the associates get the job done! The company has a mix of associate age ranges which creates an interesting associate population.
Cons
The work hours are rough because many of the jobs are seasonal positions. The corporate office does not really understand what is happening in the field during prime seasons.
Advice to Senior Management
More work life balance outside corporate offices in Buffalo,New York. Better compensation for seasonal jobs due to the demanding hours.
