I have been working at Dell full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Work/life balance
    Benefits
Employee programs (tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance, etc.)

    Cons

    Little room for advancement
    Constant re-org and WFR
    Little job security

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Service will decline if you outsource too many positions.
President of services is interviewing with other companies. Does that not conflict with the 'get on board with Dell' mentality?

I have been working at Dell full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The people that work for me and work with me are great. They have a great remote work program. Compensation is decent.

    Cons

The transformation that this company is going through will not leave very many positions in the US. Very little guidance from above when it comes to company direction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep your people informed with real information and don't blow smoke.

I worked at Dell full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

End to End Solutions, Dell has some of the best solutions in the market place.

    Cons

Too much overlay within organizations. Leadership is questionable. Going Private has led folks to watch their backs and is becoming very cut-throat.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consistent message of direction. Many organizations within the company have not a clue on where Dell is headed.
Dell's culture really needs a facelift.

I have been working at Dell full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Competitive salaries comparable to other similar employers
OK benefits comparable to other similar employers
    Global employer with opportunities abroad
Privatization represents a new opportunity to invigorate Dell

    Cons

    Constant change and reorganization
    Poor Human Resources support
    Poor corporate strategy
    Poor overall culture

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on putting people first and the business will thrive. Dell has been going through significant re-organization over the past three years in response to poor market performance in their hardware division. While it's not easy to restructure the company and make staffing changes, Dell has handled most of these people changes in a haphazard way. Please learn to be smart about retaining top talent.

I worked at Dell full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Dell tries hard and does a good job of working with Intel to enable and empower the fastest processors available upon release.

    Cons

Server hardware has become a commodity item. Nobody cares how you cool it or what form factor it comes in. Dell, like HP, is just another hardware vendor with no true hardware differentiation, no software ingenuity and poor support.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend time on the front end helping new employees with the on boarding process. Dont refuse to help on the front end of a project, then come in afterward and spend enourmous amounts of time Monday Morning Quarterbacking about what went wrong. Thats a bad use of everyone's time. Either spend time up front and provide direction, or be relaxed on how things go. Not fair to provide no insight on something then dog everyone out.

I have been working at Dell full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Fantastic culture, career development, values, work/life balance and pay! The company has a diverse culture and encourages a team environment and idea sharing. Always on the cutting edge and ever changing which makes it exciting to work here. Can't imagine working anywhere else at this point in my career. Sr. leaders are very transparent in delivering news and messages to teams. This company has transformed the way it does business and now offers end to end solutions and services for it's customers which makes it exciting to work here.

    Cons

Change is constant which is a plus for some and a con for others. If you want to be part of cutting edge technology and solutions, then this is the place to be.
