Michael S. Dell
Former Employee – worked at Dell as a contractor for less than a year
Pros – Most rewarding. Though I was with a small team out of Equallogic domain, the amount of business exposure and immense technical knowledge yearned and earned is vast. Thank you Dell.
Cons – AFAIK could not recall anything.
Advice to Senior Management – Sometimes the regional Telegu people get into politics jeopardizing the tranquility of the atmosphere. If you could do something to mitigate this it would be great.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Dell
Pros – My team was all good to work with. Great people and great benefits. The bonus plan works out well if the company does well and you get a good performance review.
Cons – Senior management (I mean way up) bit off more than they could chew and decided to cancel some projects and move others offshore. I believe you get what you pay for and that will come back to bite them, but that's out of my hands.
Advice to Senior Management – Pay and benefits are good, now just get the red tape out of the way, put mechanisms in place to allow different teams and businesses to work well together, and let the talent you've hired do their work.

Current Employee – been working at Dell
Pros – They make goals clear. They try to work on cool things. They have a great benefits package, including very generous 401K matching.
Cons – They change goals really often. They stifle innovation with bureaucracy. They try to drum up global business by hiring globally, but don't promote a global team.
Advice to Senior Management – Hiring globally is fine as long as there is a reason to do so. Make sure native and global teammates have the same goals and are held to the same standards.

Current Employee – been working at Dell
Pros – Dell EqualLogic is growing at a rapid pace. Anyone who loves a fast paced environment while working along side a great group of individuals would enjoy working here.
Cons – EqualLogic is still adjusting to being acquired by a much larger company, Dell. Unfortunately, the small start-up infrastructure is beginning to see signs of stress as the number of arrays sold increases. Anyone looking to take on a role in this company may have a pressure cooker on their hands.
Advice to Senior Management – You are on the right track to resolving most of your issue. To move forward you need to determine ways of better synchronize foreign offices with their U.S. counterparts.

Former Employee – worked at Dell
Pros – The ability and reality to discover a new career path internally without the downside risk re-starting at a new company is key. Training and leadership growth tools and resources are considered as values of the company versus "investments in human capital management... Dell's commitment to being a "green" company validates the "soul of Dell mantra....
Cons – Integrating the passions and cultures of acquired companies is not a priority. The technology remolded into a Dell sku removed a legacy of pride, risk and comraderie tempered in the competitive fire of working at a startup...
Advice to Senior Management – Empower entreprenuership not compliance.. as a Dell value....within your acquired companies...
