    Pros

    Huge opportunities in front Dell

    Cons

But, no environment to take differentiated thinking to next level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have very few rare thinkers in the company. Through this restructuring process, you are loosing those few as well. You may want put extra gates in identifying whom you want to keep and whom you want to let go. Your current model is just "open flood gates" for both hiring/firing. Very hard to hire right talent, last thing you want to do is loose those great ones.

    Pros

Very good work/life balance. Good Managers and co-workers. Huge investments in R&D and lots of new projects to work on.

    Cons

Beauracratic. New recruites are preferred over retaining existing talent. Current employees are under-paid compared to new employees. too many organizational changes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend as many dollars on retaining existing employees as you would be willing to spend on recruiting new employees.

    Pros

Learning opportunity, a lot to learn and grow. Good balance of work and life. Overall a good place to work for.

    Cons

Too much fat, too many processes. There are many people who have been there for 10 to 20 years and they are not updated with what is going on in the real world.

    Cons

The old guard, existing Dell, is a it complacent, but they are making huge efforts to transform.

I have been working at Dell full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I work in the 300 person Wyse division, which is growing double digits quarter over quarter. There is a huge sense of camaraderie that makes you want to drive to work each day. Dell has incredible benefits and preaches work life balance, allows telecommuting, but I drive 90 minutes a day because the collaborative environment is so special. Every Silicon Valley company has smart people but how many have diverse (as in not just 26 and under and yes I mean you Facebook) dynamic teams that have the ear of management and actually succeed. This is a special place. And cloud technology means you can access your work from anywhere, no worrying about lugging a laptop home or worrying if it will be stolen.

    Cons

The HR in SJ is disconnected from HQ.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Having half the team in India doesn't work well, well it strains engineering and test and both teams are sanity checking each other's work anyway.
