Cons
Too much travel and the office committee
Advice to Senior Management
More local projects, communicate better with staff
Pros
Excellent benefit package.
Opportunity to build lasting relationships - Deloitte has some wonderful, creative, intelligent employees. Really the best at what they do. Network, network, network.
Great place to hone your political skills
Cons
There are distinct classes within Deloitte - generally Deloitte Services is second class - expect some internal clients in the Functions (Tax, Audit, Consulting, etc.) to treat you like a servant rather than a teammate. Deloitte Services leadership is not so great at advocating for its team members or supporting them in client situations.
Huge volume of communications work, and lots of demand, but nature of that communications work is repetitive and formulaic, focused mainly on process and compliance with protocols. For everything you will produce, there is a script and a scripted process. Don't expect to be stimulated. Overworked, yes. Engaged, no.
Work/life balance is very difficult to achieve. Actual support (in actions, rather than lip-service) for work/life balance is...elusive.
Leadership has not figured out how to foster teambuilding and help employees feel connected in its increasingly virtual environment. Especially when said teams are scattered across the country/globe.
Pay is middling. Bonus, virtually nonexistent.
Advice to Senior Management
Be trustworthy
Be transparent
Make an effort to build and stay connected to the teams that you lead
Treat Deloitte Services like its really matters
Take a good hard look at Deloitte's rigid hierarchy and kill-yourself-to-make-Partner culture
Pros
Great place to begin your career and gain vailauble knowledge that will help in the future. The work is very challenging and engaging.
Cons
The hours are very demanding, and hard work is not always recognized. It is a very "political" place to work as far as promotions, raises, etc.
Pros
Bright People
Pay is level with industry average
Opportunity to experience many different industries and companies
Respected name
Travel and expense account
Cons
The review process can be a bit flimsy. There are pretty standard rules for when promotions happen and these are not broken. Managers often have favourites and take care of their own. This will be the same at other consulting companies as well though.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide more opportunities for flexible work arrangements or alternative positions so that employees to not leave after two and a half years on avg.
Pros
Great Pay, Great Job, Great People.
Cons
Absolutely none Deloitte was fantastic
Advice to Senior Management
up the offer rates
Pros
It's a great place to work. The people there are really nice. There is lots of room to move up.
Cons
I didn't have many problems. Sometimes the work load can get a it crazy, but it's still managable. The pay could be better.
Advice to Senior Management
Maybe offer higher salaries? I feel that lots of people leave this firm in order to look for more money somewhere else.
Pros
Deloitte offers a breadth of experiences that are hard to come across in other firms and industries - not only are you able to work on extremely diverse projects, but also given the opportunity to lead and participate in a wealth of internal initiatives and community service projects.
Cons
The size of the firm and it's accounting background sometimes hinders how flexible and responsive we can be in the consulting marketplace.
