Pros
-perks are great
-colleagues are good to work with
-experience is uncomparable
Cons
-hours can be tough to manage
Pros
Highly respected management consulting firm with better than average benefits and exposure to a wide variety of projects.
Cons
Unless you are straight out of college or have 5+ yrs in management consulting (e.g. Accenture or PwC) or have 15+ yrs of industry experience, I would pass.
Experienced hires are lumped into the same group internally and are not really viewed as individuals who have experience to utilize on "project X".
Also, providing overwhelmingly detailed PowerPoint decks to clients and micro-managing the projects for the clients is not very exciting (IMO).
Advice to Senior Management
Stop worrying about the number of units you are going to gain by slightly participating in a proposal and focus more on projects that are already sold.
Also, learn to say "no", having a utilization rate of 94% across the board is not a rating to be proud of, it just means that people will be leaving for better work / life balance.
Pros
Flexibility to work from home (sometimes), no travel, polite coworkers, nice clean offices, pretty good starting salary (but small raises), big company with opportunities to move around internally.
Cons
DTT (not Deloitte & Touche) runs you into the ground. Incompetent Directors and management. The ppl who work at DTT are the Deloitte rejects who had to make an exit from client service work (like me). Lots of attitude. Pretty competitive.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire more competent staff.
Pros
Deloitte is a very well-respected brand around the world and for good reason. My coworkers are ambitious, learned, and very good at what they do.
The professional development and networking opportunities are excellent, if you take advantage of them.
Great benefits and "overall package."
Cons
If you don't have personal ambition, can't stand up for yourself and express your desires/needs, you will struggle with work/life balance and less than the best of opportunities. That said, this is a place that values people with personal ambition and goals -- if you can take advantage of the right opportunities and forge your own path, you will find success and happiness.
Pros
Work life balance and prestige
Cons
travel every week was very hectic
Pros
They really challenge you to work hard and learn new skills.
GREAT experience on your resume
Opportunities to be involved in other activities, supported by the company (e.g., community service or pro-bono work)
Cons
Lots of ambiguity, things are constantly changing
**NO** work-life balance
Management can be slow-moving
Expectations can sometimes be too high (time and abilities)
You're expected to work on client work & internal work - even if your client work is 70 hrs a week
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership says they are open to discussions, but people feel uncomfortable because of politics. Provide opportunities for junior employees to have a say. Also, check up on counselors - people can get a poor rating because their counselor/counseling tree wasn't involved in the counselee's development or activities.
Pros
great client portfolio get to know different industries the best in public accounting
Cons
beauracracy sometimes, slow to get promoted
Pros
Smart people, progressive leadership, supportive environment.
Cons
Conservative raises and bonuses for high performing employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Conduct a compensation analysis to determine how we can attract and retain the best talent - still feel like comp is a bit low.
Pros
Work with smart, interesting, and highly motivated people
Interesting travel opportunities, though these can be few and far between
Great reputation and opportunity to work with the world's largest and most influential companies
Cons
If you don't network well, don't come to Deloitte
You have to be able to cultivate relationships with your partners and senior managers, or you are toast
Sometimes messages from the senior leadership are a bit too scripted and not realistic
Advice to Senior Management
More realistic messages and ability to answer employees questions more honestly.
Pros
Challenging work, delivering great deal of value for clients, working with very bright colleagues that inspire and push
Cons
Need to find faster ways for new highers to network and get engaged with clients / leadership
Advice to Senior Management
Continue along the road we are heading - making a great deal of progress even in headwinds
