    Sucks...

Senior Consultant - Consulting (Federal) (Former Employee)
    Washington, DC

    ProsBenefits. That's pretty much it.

ConsLong hours and pay scales under the industry average. They will tell you that the pay ranges are the same (even with their new push to go more towards bonuses) but this is not true when you closely examine their competitors. Furthermore, the best titles to be in this company are Partner or Director. Anyone under them is basically expendable. This firm will chew you up and spit you out. Which is why there is such as high turnover rate. You not only have to have a 90% utilization rate but you also are judged upon how much "PRD" work (firm activities such as white papers, proposals) you do. They don't set the amount of hours you have to meet and you are not allowed to know what others in your consort are doing even though at the end of the year you are judged by what others with your Title have done. So if you did 50 hours of PRD work but the average is 150 hours, you not only don't get a good rating, your rating will actually GO DOWN!! If you do 150 hours the next year and the average is 300 hours, your end of year rating with GO DOWN!! I know because this happened to me. The best part of this is that they don't just come to you and say "I have these activities that I'd like you to do". You only discover them by networking and chasing after them. So, to sum up, you not only have to do your job and make the client happy by working a ton of hours. You then have to spend another 10-20 hours a week finding someone who has enough PRD hours and the right kind of PRD (because not all hours are equal). Once you've found the hours to be able to put in, you then have to do them. This company is only good for people just out of college who want to get their feet wet in Consulting or people who have worked elswhere who want to come to Deloitte and skip to the Sr. Manager, Director, Partner levels. Very few of the college grads who start with Deloitte actually rise up through the ranks to make it to Partner.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop lying about Deloitte respecting work/life balance (you know you don't). Start paying your employees more and stop treating them like the equivalent of the copy machine that can simply be replaced. Yes, the benefits are nice. But golden cages are still prisons and those "benefits" come at the price of health/home life and lower salaries

A great place for partners and directors but not a place for anyone who has a lesser title

    Senior Administrative Assistant (Current Employee)
    Costa Mesa, CA

ProsGood benefits such as health subsidy reimbursement. Company matching 401K plan. (However you have to pay for parking (subsidized) which can take a large chunk out of your earnings. Deloitte will soon adopt a plan where they will no longer subsidize parking, placing the burden upon the employee. Partners will still receive subsidized parking.)

ConsManagement treats support staff as if they are expendable. They are overworked, mostly overburdened with petty personal requests and grossly underpaid. For the past two years raises have only been 1%. Further, Deloitte realigned the job titles for internal support staff whereby the salary ranges have been impacted negatively. If you were a manager for instance, you are now a supervisor and your earning potential has been reduced or significantly limited.

The turnover rate at the firm is alarming.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your employees with professionalism and respect and you will get the dedication and loyalty that will make your firm prosper further. Do not look at the contributions of the internal support staff as irrelevant. They are performing the tasks that managers and above do not want to perform. Althought support staff does not generate revenue for the firm directly, they do impact the bottom line by efficiently supporting those who do bring in the revenue.

Advice to Senior ManagementSort it out. Get some from the US or UK firms to show you how its done.

One of the worst experiences. Very poor management.

Senior Software Developer (Senior Consultant) At Securitization Team (Former Employee)
    Jersey City, NJ

ProsHard to tell. Only few to name -
    - availability for working from home 1 day a week
    - good infrastructure.
    - excellent Business Analysts team

ConsWorking as a developer in Securitization Team was one of my worst experiences.
    - Below market pay rate.
    - Direct management (team lead) without proper skills, not using any of the project management tools and techniques - no bug tracker, no project tracking tools, all task assignments are through email or poorly created word documents. No source control for SQL scripts - shared folders or email attachments.
    - Team lead has his favorite developers, whom he will believe even if they are lying.
    - Outdated technologies. Most of the code is still in .NET FW 2.0, but slowly moving towards new platform, In many cases very poor code quality,
    - and many, many more.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive manager's roles to skillful people, not to those who worked more years in the company.

    No work-life balance, very political

    Consultant (Former Employee)
    Bangalore (India)

ProsGood benefits and incentives if you can suck up to your bosses.

Cons- Long working hours. (minimum 10 hours a day and can stretch to 14-16 hours a day).
    - Managers have no sensitivity towards women employee, employees who are sick -
No company cab facilities to women even if they stretch at night. They were bound to take dial up cabs without any security. If you are sick, and have no leaves, you have to take loss of pay. you cannot take leaves in advance.
    - Bossy attitudes of senior management, people are forced to work on technologies they are not comfortable with.
    - No HR to hear you out. HRs are as miserable as any other employee in the firm.
    - Very political way of upraising employees. Believe me, you are not going to get upraised if you cannot stretch long hours and forget your family. You will be told that you have not performed up to the mark, if you cannot stretch and given a low rating.
    - Bad bad food and cafeteria and bad infrastructure!
    - Bad office vibes. You will not feel happy to wake up in the morning and come to this place for work.

If you are a lateral, you would want to avoid this place.

Advice to Senior ManagementNo advices as everyone knows, it's not gonna matter.

ConsNo way for laterals to get fair
    No Onsite at all
You have only US for Onsite except it no choice
Very very less no of good projects
Only WellPoint is there they put you for any skill set they need, dont even consider your choice
Network Network they will say but its all politics
No one will help you in work, Onsite will treat you like goats, they are insane
No place for self respect person

Advice to Senior ManagementDont blabber you have so many project nothing is there
