    Pros

Young, fast paced environment with ample opportunity to learn and grow. Such a great place to own your career, set your parameters and develop a network. Smart people and endless resources.

Great expense policy. Free meals, parking, mileage, coffee, professional dues, tuition.

    Cons

    Limited work / life balance
    High turnover rate

    Advice to Management

There's a lot of turnover because people get burnt out. Instead of cycling people through, why not see if you can get some of those folks to stick around.

    Pros

Develop excel skills, decent 1st job, good for people that did all their homework in school and constantly asked "will this be on the test?"
The partners don't get rich either- they pay income tax in 29 states, meaning that $350k distribution results in take-home pay of ~$150k. I guess that's a pro... at least they're not scamming the underlings for their own benefit, there's just not enough money to go around.

    Cons

I averaged 75 hours (100% in office) per week for the year I was there.
Two weeks were over 100 hours
    I worked weekends often.
Big 4 experience is no longer as valuable as it once was unless you want to stay in accounting forever.

    Advice to Management

    God be with you

    Pros

Challenging environment: every project posses and opportunity to grow professionally
Exciting projects/engagements: taken on the biggest and most complex client issues
Competitive compensation/benefits: benefits are probably better than compensation, compensation is average

    Cons

Difficult politics to navigate and achieve personal goals: achieving promotions is a mix of selling your self and having the right "ears" listening to your achievements
Intermitent mentoring: in general there's no real mentoring, it's the odd cases where you'll receive the objective mentoring/coaching to improve and grow

    Advice to Management

Measure your leaders by their counseling effectiveness; leaders should be mentoring staff, instead it's huge egos at display expecting praise

    Pros

Good reputation and it will help you to get your foot in the door for interviews

    Cons

Poor mobility and salary compared to industry. Senior Managers and PPD are mean and do not develop staff. Most of my coworkers complained of long hours such as pulling all nighters. In order to succeed at deloitte you need to be able to operate with very little sleep, no more than 4 hours a night. It's investment banking hours without the salary to match.

    Advice to Management

Need to improve managed revenue and better invest in your practitioners. Need to improve a set a company values rather than encouraging scrouges to run the show.

Pay more, allow people to move around the firm easier and do different things.

    Pros

definitely the best of the "big 4" by far, truly cares about employees, has a fair rating system, and opportunities for advancement and activities outside the workplace. whatever you can imagine they offer. benefits are amazing, even starting out you get 5 weeks of vacation.

    Cons

work/life balance can differ significantly depending on your current client assignment.

    Pros

A caring environment: personally, I have had a great experience with management actually caring for my well-being and giving me time to attend to personal matters.

    Cons

It is a large organization with clear systems.

  10. Great experiences - Laid back management - They trust in you so you should be good so long as you don't violate that tru

    Pros

Deloitte provides great Exposure with the various client assignments you get
    Its a good Resume booster
    Offers Comparable compensation
    They pay for certifications

    Cons

Work life balance may get challenging but it sometimes falls back on you on how to manage it
Benefits are comparable but you take a slight hit for the perception that comes with working at Deloitte and job prospects in the future
You may get tagged to a market offering that you are not interested in and probably loose some traction in your career progress by leaving it for what you like to do - Again, that's something that could be a personal choice

    Advice to Management

Try as much as possible to rotate people to areas outside of their core market offering to enable them to continuously grow.

    Pros

The best part about working at Deloitte in Tax is the training and education provided to new hires. They take the time to make sure you learn about the rules and regulations, although sometimes it can be hectic to manage training and the engagements you are on. Another great part is the culture. Most people are really friendly and outgoing and there are lots of young people that you can become friends with. The company also tends to be pretty flexible with personal time needed from what I have seen. They value smart people and if you prove your self you will be in demand.

    Cons

The work life balance really depends on the tax group you join in and the clients you get on. Of course there will always be times when you will be working long hours and days when you get to take half the day off and go to happy hour with coworkers. However, you may get on a client that has so much work that needs to be done that you will be consistently working until late into the evening and/or weekends for months on end. Also, if you get on clients that have different due dates you may be having more than one busy season. For the number of hours you are working the pay is pretty low and tends to be pretty standardized.
