I worked at Deloitte full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Very professional company, well managed and have plenty of self-training opportunities and certification.

    Cons

Particular to ASSOCIATE model in Deloitte - Associates are hired based in project and would need to be billable all the time. You are given 4 weeks of time to find a new project (when your billing) is getting over and if you cannot be placed you will be terminated irrespective of your performance. HR folks will keep repeating the fact that there is no bench time in Deloitte. I was billable from start to end for almost 2 years and was laid off on my last billing day.
This is a big pain for H1b employees where they need to find another job within couple of weeks as Deloitte would cancel H1b anytime from Week1 to Week 4 of termination and usually their attorney would start it after 2 weeks of termination (they call it separation). So I feel it is very dangerous to join Deloitte in ASSOCIATE model. Otherwise it is a good company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The ASSOCIATE model is a bad spot on a reputed company like Deloitte. This is purely hire and fire strategy and would put the employees working in this model in a tight spot. Many of them are H1b employees and you are playing with their future.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I found the consulting world great and the access to education and activities outstanding. The overall challenge was great

    Cons

The major issue is that there was a lot of red tape around you as your career growth. Also, I think the way you start the project search needs to be completely reworked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A revamp of the model of how things get done from an individual perspective needs to be addressed as well as looking at the group.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

You work hard/long hours but you work in a great team that supports you. Deloitte provides lots of training opportunities and other ways to progress your career.

    Cons

It is a consultancy so by nature you travel every week, Monday to Thursday. This can get tiring and your work/life balance can suffer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Figure out a solution for the 'road warrior' problem, e.g. let people rotate in working from home for one week at a time.

    Pros

    Wonderful Benefits
    Great People
    Latest Technology
    Flexible
    Great work/life balance

    Cons

I'm in a support role and I'm pretty sure they've worked hard to keep our salaries low over the years. The 1% raises aren't cutting it anymore.
No upward mobility in my role.
Lack of opportunity to branch off into other areas of technology.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There really needs to be more opportunities to grow into roles with better pay, higher title, and more responsibility. The rating system is also unfair and antiquated. A rating system that's not based on performance is senseless. To set goals your employees aren't given an opportunity to reach is also unfair and senseless.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Gaining a lot of experience. Coworkers at my level are very fun to be around and are normal people I hang out with outside of work.

    Cons

Direct management expects way too much out of staff. I am consistently assigned work above my pay grade and expected to work 60-80 hour weeks. During year-end close I worked 17 days straight and put in over 180 hours. No overtime compensation at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop beating your staff to death with work and maybe they would stay at your company for more than 3 years (when the pension fully vests). There is a reason you have retention problems - its because staff don't like their salaries to be abused.
