    Pros

Good projects, great people and high paced environment. Lot of opportunities to develop your self.

    Cons

No work life balance. Lot of pressure on consultants to deliver.

    Advice to Management

Just do not design policies for F&P and send sureveys on work life balance. Enforce the polices strictly

    Pros

Deloitte is arguably one of the best places to start a career. The wealth of knowledge from your peers and supervisors is second to none.

    Cons

The hours can be terribly long but that is the nature of the industry. Compensation in big cities does not always reflect the differential costs over smaller cities.

    Advice to Management

Structured down time during the busy season, even if it is an evening off or half a Saturday off. It will go a long way in keeping the troops hyped week in week out.

    Pros

    - Awesome training and development opportunities (Deloitte University, online eCourses, etc.) - Killer PTO allocation (8 hours each paycheck) - Great opportunity for airline and hotel rewards

    Cons

    - Completely ABSURD salary structure: someone who sacrifices more of their life with weekly travel or more hours a week is paid just as much as someone who has a project in his or her home area (doesn't have to travel) and only works 40 hours a week. There is no recognition of working hard at Deloitte Advisory. - Culture of punishment: During year-end performance ratings, you are rated based one a number of factors, once of which is the amount of client hours you work in a given fiscal year. However, you may or may not be assigned on a project anywhere from a week to 2 months. They hammer on the concept of "owning your career" and pin the responsibility of finding projects on their consultants. This, however, is ridiculous since they have paid, full-time staff in charge of placing employees on projects. So at ratings time, if you have been unassigned for several weeks through no fault of your own, you get dinged significantly. - Everything is made up: The deliverables we give our clients is made up about 75% of the time. We either use something from a past project and tailor it for the new client, or whip of something from scratch and convince the client it is quality work. The kicker is that you know the client will probably look at our stuff maybe for a week or two, and it will get filed into a cabinet or the company's intranet. - Low morale : there are those who totally drink the consulting and Deloitte kool-aid, but it is shocking how many people are unsatisfied and don't like their job. Overall, if you like sitting inside (sometimes in a windowless office) on your butt for 8-10 hours a day, staring at your laptop doing work that no once cares about, then this is the perfect job for you.

    Advice to Management

    1. Completely overall your salary structure. Those who travel more and/or work more hours should get paid more ... period. 2. Stop punishing employees for taking PTO and not being assigned on a project. Client service hours is over-emphasized way too much.

    Pros

great colleagues to work with, great business lessons to learn first hand in

    Cons

poor transparency of growth and progress within firm, very political in terms of client exposure

    Advice to Management

be more transparent to employees instead of telling them too late.

    Pros

Great company, great clients, and nice benefits (except the 401k, I have seen smaller companies with much better matching)

    Cons

Year end assessment isn't fair. Once you hit manager and above your project delivery will mean nothing if you don't have high sale volume.

    Advice to Management

Reassess how you perform year-end evaluation. Give project delivery at least the same weight as sales, at least on tough projects where managers don't have time to do business development work.

    Pros

Prestigious organization. Intelligent colleagues & clients. Deep focus in one or two primary areas, developing industry expertise and eminence. Good compensation package & perks. Great career move if you can handle the lifestyle.

    Cons

Long hours. Highly competitive organization. Highly networked environment, so sometimes is hard to understand who is responsible for what. Work-life balance is mostly propaganda. Utilization metrics require us to work 85-90% of available hours in the year. After taking out holidays and mandatory corporate events, it leaves no room for PTO unless one is willing to work overtime at some other points to cover the time lost in PTO.

    Advice to Management

Work-life balance is great propaganda and receiving all those emails about health and wellness are entertaining. But all the PR and marketing does't help when it doesn't get implemented. Hasn't improved much, despite being at the top of the list at the end of every Year-End corporate conference call.
