Pros
Generous PTO package (helps keep you sane after busy season), the opportunity to learn quickly on the job after coming straight out of college.
Cons
Long hours, tedious work, failure to foster ingenuity. Ultimately, the work is structured such that the status quo is maintained, above all else. This isn't specific to Deloitte, but rather to Big Four audit practices in general.
Advice to Senior Management
If Deloitte truly wants to provide superior services to its clients (as it frequently claims), it should focus on retaining its most talented employees.
Pros
Looks good on resume. Good people. Excellent benefits. good exposure. good work experience. excellent consulting experience. great place to gain management skills.
Cons
cut-throat politics. very competitive. arrogant management. sweat shop.
Advice to Senior Management
pipe it down a bit...
Pros
- Reasonable salary
- Great benefits
- Diverse (lots of initiatives) and open environment
- Easily accessible partners/principals
- Variety of world-class clients
- Good co-workers
Cons
'Work-life' balance is constantly preached by the most senior executives within the firm, but it is rarely practiced.
The review system pits employees at the same level against each other on projects ("who will get the higher rating?")
Advice to Senior Management
Practice what you preach around work-life balance.
Pros
You will get great experience thats for sure. Training is top notch and the company is recognized in every industry in all parts of the globe. Great for when you leave the place because they drive you out.
Cons
The drive you out due to the long hours. I dont remember working an 8 hour day. Usually 10. Not uncommon to work 16+ during busy season... Can be brutal.
Advice to Senior Management
There has to be improved work life balance or at least recognition in the form of overtime for anything over 11 hours a day... Its not that much to consider, when you consider how much people give up to work for you...
Pros
Flexible, great people, great benefits, great culture, ample amount of PTO, dynamic and I am always learning something new on the job.
Cons
The negatives for this industry in general could be positives for others. This industry requires a lot of travel and you aren't in the same spot/client all the time.
Pros
High Salary
Great Benefits
Amazing Perks - Travel, hotel, etc
Cons
Luck can determine a lot of things
Getting thrown into situations where you are not ready for the responsibility
Long hours
If you are new, you don't get to decide where you end up, unlike what they say
Pros
People are great! And work is very challenging. The travel can be very interesting . There are great opportunities when you leave
Cons
Need more money. And hours are too much. The deadlines can be very stressful. Sometimes you are responsible for the whole project
Advice to Senior Management
Need to pay better. But there a lot of perks which I appreciate such as plenty of time off and flexibility.
Pros
defined career path, extensive experience, they will work you to death, and they will expect nothing but the best
Cons
overwork, underpay, very political and requires a keen alignment to the right senior partners
Advice to Senior Management
walk the talk. Need to focus on people to be successful
Pros
great place to establish and flourish in career.
Cons
work life balance is issue at times but it is the nature of public accounting
Advice to Senior Management
none
Pros
Structured promotions
Learning curve high
build technical expertise
able to take long vacations during non-busy season
Cons
no personal life
poor compensation
politics - unfair rating system
Advice to Senior Management
rethink rating system
