Pros
Cheerful office with a young workforce
Lots of activities and team building initiatives
Easy access to Managers
Several training opportunities
Cons
Difficult to change lines or gain added responsibilities
Disconnect between the US senior managers and staff at India
Slow career growth
Advice to Senior Management
Deloiite needs to ensure that the young workforce feels fulfilled with their work and that they have exciting opportunities ahead.
Pros
Growing practice
Agressive growth plans in India
Work life balance
Access to excellent knowledge base
Cons
Appraisal process could have been better
Advice to Senior Management
Could be more sales focussed
Pros
Nice people around. Nice workable atmosphere. Good food and cafeteria.
Cons
Management knows that they need to hire people every year in a high attrition market. So they lie all and everything about their profiles and come to campuses in India e.g. IIT, DCE.
The information shared about profiles is so false, vague and broad that you may get hired for a strategic client interacting management consultant profile and a serial coder doing nothing but coding and testing on the same kind of job description.
That's my personal experience post which i resigned in few weeks and went to another company which was ethical and honest.
Advice to Senior Management
Please look at your India Management and especially HR and improve the standards of professional ethics.
Pros
1) Very good work life balance
2) Its Heaven for campus recruits(including me)
3) Fun ppl around (even managers) and fun events going on.
4) Pays Premium package
5) Great place to start your career..feel good factor..really works..
6) If anyone wants to devote their life to work,u can do it here, and still have fun.
7) Good appraisal/performance measure system.
Cons
1) Lot depends on people you work with..(if they hv started thr career with deloitte you are in heaven, otherwise it depends)
2) location..for localites..could hv been in a more accessible.
3) Too many things to look out for..need to handle lot of things simultaneously.
Advice to Senior Management
1) Sessions with project team to know more(not just statuses)..its already thr but not all practise.
2) Incorporate firm activites/engagements with more approval from project seniors.sometimes it is quite restricting.
Pros
work life balance is great coz there isn't much to do.
they throw a lot of parties but that is at the expense of your annual bonus
people at your level tend to be like minded so it's fun
Cons
no communication from management aobut ratings and why they have given you each rating
the compensation review process is very secretive and too long
Advice to Senior Management
get your act together coz i know that from a team of 20 of us 10 have resigned because they are dissatisfied with the job.
Pros
Good Work and life balance.
Work from home
Cons
You manager and the delivery manager doesn't care abput what is happening in the project as long as you are able to handle all the issues
More focus on firm initiatives
Networking is the only thing you need to survive and go up the ladder
Advice to Senior Management
Talk to the people on the floor else it will be difficult to retial the people
Pros
There is not strict hierarchy and the organizational stucture is flat so people in the upper management are very accessible. The trainings and activites within the organization is a big plus to enhance skills in any area. The infrastruture and the investments made for the employees comfort is wrh appreciation. The mentoring methodology follwed at the Deloitte is unique because the person who offers cunselling is not the employee's boss and the thus the feedback is given as an outsider and people are open to receive the feedback more objectively. The pays and perks are good when compared to the other companies in the Indian sector. The knowldege forums and respositories are and add-on to all the above mentioned benefits.
Cons
Competition is stiff and people often override the rules of the book in order to be in the spotlight. The work culture of Deloitte is a little laid back and people need to a little proactive. I guess most of the professionals feel tired because of the stringent deadlines they perate within but these timelines are not shown in the books.
Advice to Senior Management
They should put themselves in the shoes of the people at the lowest level and entry and then see how their decisions affects them and whether they are achieveing the mission they started with.
Pros
Good work environment. Openness. Brand name and decent oportunities to learn and grow. Self driven career. Excellent support system through counselor counselee relationship to grow career.
Cons
Differentiation between US and Indian employees. Preferential treatment and attitude when it comes to roles and responsibilities. Roles not based on profiles rather based on networking skills. But this is not really a downside as this is how the consulting industry work at the end of the day. Your growth is not based on your work but more about how many people think your work is good, how many people know you and basically all about visibility. You need to blow your own trumpet. This is not a place for those who would prefer to do thier work and let their work do the talking as its more around do you job and blow your trumpet.
Advice to Senior Management
Nothing
