Pros
-grear people to work with
-the office feels like home
-ability to work from home
-possibility to transfer from office to office
Cons
-low salary compare to the competition
-long hours at the time, but there is a down time that compensate for it
Advice to Senior Management
I love my managers (so far;), Of cause we all have our crazy sides, but overall they are the once who will make me stay with Deloitte
Pros
Compensation is high compared to other Big 4 companies, but I think that can also depend on where you are coming from. In general Senior Leadership is competent and realistic in the messaging they send to employees. They are constantly re-evaluating their strategy and providing opportunities to get involved in shaping the business. Opportunities to move around are there once you have put your time in, but it is a typical consulting staffing model where it may be hard to find a project/manager that you like in the first year or so.
Cons
I have found it very difficult as an experienced hire to really integrate into the culture and find a core group of people to connect with. While there are a lot of events, they are all usually industry/sector specific so it is difficult to meet people across service lines.
While there are also a lot of really smart people here, they also tend to be the ones to tell you so. Be prepared to listen to people's accomplishments and be put in your place until you "earn" the clout.
It can be a challenging environment with late nights and lots of fire drills. Be wary of work life balance.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep employees informed and continued to get people involved in the development of strategy. This will be extremely important in keeping people's continued commitment going forward.
Pros
One of the best consulting firms among big four audit companies. Has a good brand name that could open doors.
Cons
Very demanding and hard to show and advance on pure good performance. Need to keep excellent relationship with the partners.
Advice to Senior Management
Increase internal communications, flexibility of career paths, improve work life balance, match market level compensation, improve benefits, improve recruitment process.
Pros
work life balance, network building, training programs, great client base, generous vacation package, partners and directors who care about junior staff
Cons
they expect you to give too much back to the firm, full time travel gets old quickly. low employee morale since 2008
Advice to Senior Management
Try to boost employee morale. not having a real holiday party since 2007 is quite depressing. Overall though a great place to launch a career.
Pros
Flexibility, benefits, diversity & inclusion
Cons
The telecommuting nature of most people's jobs makes it difficult to network, and it's all about "who you know" when you are looking for a new opportunity.
Advice to Senior Management
Barry's team is fantastic, and their message is on point. I'd like to see their efforts carried thorugh - universally - down the line, through the PPDs and Sr. Managers.
Pros
Large practice offers many cross-functional opportunities for networking and knowledge sharing, as well as bringing the best team to the client. Great brand name on resume, overall good compensation, work/life balance and benefits.
Cons
Very large practice also means dealing with some bureacracy, also there is now a push to collaborate with the D&T side, which in some cases may dilute the Deloitte Consulting brand especially in strategy consulting.
Advice to Senior Management
Better quality management needed in DC in order for the firm to be in the same league as MBB for strategy consulting.
Pros
1) Great name to put on your resume
2) Fantastic benefits
Cons
1) No work and life balance
2) You have to know how to play those political games
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on associates who can really work and bring money/clients to the company...Not those useless brown noses
Pros
Learning opportunity and career growth oppotunity. It includes the chance to work in many industries at the beginning of your career and then focus on only one sector (specialization)
Cons
Need more money. And hours are too much. The deadlines can be very stressful. Sometimes you are responsible for the whole project
Advice to Senior Management
if a team works 15-18 hours a day for a reporting period.....don't expect them or push them to work more in the next period.....it just upsets everyone on the team. A simple and genuine "thank you" and an acknowledgment that the hours were not sustainable would have gone a long way.
Pros
Learning opportunity and career growth oppotunity. It includes the chance to work in many industries at the beginning of your career and then focus on only one sector (specialization)
Cons
The way up is not easy at all, and you need to be open to extensive traveling. Their agressive growth is not allowing to manage appropriately the formation of a few managers and it is impacting the moral of the staff.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on better training to managers and sr. managers in order to continue having the same people management standards. This has been affected in the last few years.
Pros
Respect for the empluyee, training, salary, growth opportunities.
Cons
balance of work x life, burocratic when compared to others
