I have been working at Deloitte full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Young, fast paced environment with ample opportunity to learn and grow. Such a great place to own your career, set your parameters and develop a network. Smart people and endless resources.

Great expense policy. Free meals, parking, mileage, coffee, professional dues, tuition.

    Cons

The hours can become long, but you can work from anywhere. During busy season some people show up around 9am and work until 9pm, while others work 7-7pm depending on your preference. Of course, your schedule depends on the clients to which you're assigned.

I have been working at Deloitte

    Pros

I have been told by other people, who have worked for both PwC and Deloitte, that work-life balance can be better at Deloitte. Given its strong consulting-oriented culture, work is done in a more collaborative way than I expected.

    Cons

Hours during the busy seasons can be bad, but it is similar anywhere within the client serving industry. Promotion seems to be very much based on tenure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They are doing a great job.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great exposure as a young professional, lots of opportunities for hard and soft-skill learning, clear career path, interesting projects, lots of variety

    Cons

Inconsistent project burn, one-upsmanship with activities to achieve high ratings, modest pay and bonus relative to other firms, so much travel

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do things to help keep office culture strong, find ways to provide a break from travel burnout, don't give in to the temptation to give the highest ratings to those who spend the most time on meaningless internal firm activities

    I worked at Deloitte

    Pros

The colleagues and partners I worked with were some of the most professional, yet genuine individuals in the business. The focus was people-centric and a true emphasis on growth and development - if you were committed. They expect you to take the lead but will provide the tools necessary when requested. Additionally, the benefits and time off were extremely generous.

    Cons

Became quite centralized in regards to some policies and practices. Deterred the ability to creatively manage.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Great PTO (5 weeks)
    - Fitness subsidy
    - Free CPE

    Cons

    - Unrealistic budgets
    - Unrealistic deadlines
    - Outrageously long hours (80-90+ hours during busy season)
    - Bad tone at the top
    - Encouraged to eat hours
    - Focus on achieving higher billing rates at the expense of reducing already unrealistic budgets
    - Horrible work-life balance (life almost non-existent during busy season)
    - Understaffed jobs

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus less on billing rates and more on realistic expectations, budgets, and deadlines. Realize people have lives outside of work.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time

    Pros

    Great brand
    Excellent learning opportunities
Proven processes and methodologies to prepare employees for success

    Cons

Huge company - sometimes difficult to understand your place in the organization
Unvaried work - most consulting work is project management focused
Stack ranking - if your utilization isn't at goal you won't be promoted. To get to the goal might mean being on a long boring project for a year or more.
Compensation looks attractive out of college. 3 years later most of your peers will be out earning you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put my pressure on counselors to help new hires get integrated. Obviously you have to build a network, but you should be given the tools to build that network when you start your career.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Work-life balance is actually a thing here. Some may have it worse but I got extremely lucky and have a ton of flexibility. You just have to put in the work up front and you will be trusted to work remotely once a week etc. Depends on a lot of factors but its possible. The pay is decent in almost every state. In SF, it's a bit hard to live on this average given the high cost of rent but its manageable. The people are amazing. Everyone is so kind, smart, and has amazing work ethic. Very professional all around and these people will be your colleagues for life.

    Cons

You have to do a ton of networking to get noticed. Everyone that works here is doing a great job so you have to work extra hard to set yourself apart. So this can also be a "Pro" but it takes a lot of time and prep to email, set up lunch dates, quick meetings, etc. Effective networking can get you very far here. Other than that, there are absolutely no cons.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Nothing at all. They do everything just right.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    High end clients
Investment in marketing and brand building
    Good for starting a career

    Cons

    Self-serving management
Hard to build/maintain a career if you are not in a "clique"
    Not innovative

"Bad boys" have prevailed and I hope the new CEO will address the negative culture

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

6 weeks of vacation, pension, flexible work environment, decent benefits.

    Cons

Terrible year end review process, poor communication in my department, constant efforts to reduce headcount (and hire in India)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be open about your intentions, laying people off to hire 3 heads in India isn't always the best option.
