    Cons

Being consulting company, heavy focus on relationship, networking, branding and sell rather than building capabilities and solving problems.

    Pros

Deloitte offers a wide breadth of services to a diverse group of clients; which allows practitioners to develop a diverse skill set.

    Cons

In addition to working 50-70 hours a week (not including travel time), expect to work an additional 10-20 hours on mandatory firm initiatives.

    Pros

    * Generous benefits (healthcare, disability, 401K, etc.)
    * Copious PTO (although finding time to take it can be a challenge!)
    * Wealth of career development, mentoring/counseling, leadership development, and training opportunities
    * State of the art training facility/hotel (Deloitte University) in Westlake, TX (whenever you get sent to training at DU, you're excited about it!)
    * Project-based work means you're always working with a different team, client, problem, setting, location every few months/years so you don't get bored (challenging work helps you build a lot of great experience)

    Cons

    * Work-life balance: If you're in a role where you travel to client sites, the travel can get overwhelming (80%+ travel)
    * Performance management requirements can be annoying, overwhelming, administrative (you have to have yourself and others evaluate you during and after every project, and at the midpoint and end of the fiscal year. If you're on multiple projects, this can be a lot of evaluations!)
    * Project-based staffing is not yet entirely considerate of your desires (e.g., being in a certain location/region or being on a certain type of project). You basically need to go wherever they send you

    Advice to Management

We're starting to discuss work-life balance more (especially in Consulting) and implement flexible/predictable work practices that are outside of the typical "travel to the client site every week" (3-4-5 schedule), however, I have not yet seen these practices implemented on the project level. Incentivize Partners/Principals/Directors and Senior Managers to have conversations with the client about how to make sure their team does not burn out!

    Pros

Work-life balance is actually a thing here. Some may have it worse but I got extremely lucky and have a ton of flexibility. You just have to put in the work up front and you will be trusted to work remotely once a week etc. Depends on a lot of factors but its possible. The pay is decent in almost every state. In SF, it's a bit hard to live on this average given the high cost of rent but its manageable. The people are amazing. Everyone is so kind, smart, and has amazing work ethic. Very professional all around and these people will be your colleagues for life.

    Cons

You have to do a ton of networking to get noticed. Everyone that works here is doing a great job so you have to work extra hard to set yourself apart. So this can also be a "Pro" but it takes a lot of time and prep to email, set up lunch dates, quick meetings, etc. Effective networking can get you very far here. Other than that, there are absolutely no cons.

    Advice to Management

Nothing at all. They do everything just right.

    Pros

    Great brand
    Excellent learning opportunities
Proven processes and methodologies to prepare employees for success

    Cons

Huge company - sometimes difficult to understand your place in the organization
Unvaried work - most consulting work is project management focused
Stack ranking - if your utilization isn't at goal you won't be promoted. To get to the goal might mean being on a long boring project for a year or more.
Compensation looks attractive out of college. 3 years later most of your peers will be out earning you.

    Advice to Management

Put my pressure on counselors to help new hires get integrated. Obviously you have to build a network, but you should be given the tools to build that network when you start your career.

Office culture is good, There is a lot of learning. Benefits are good....

    Cons

Work-Life Balance is very hard to maintain, and no transparency on policies. Promotion necessarily does not mean increase in Salary

    Pros

Deloitte invests in the people and you can gain a lot of meaningful relationships at the firm. It has a strong sales culture because of its consulting focus so the people there go on to lead important roles after exiting the company. The company does its best at maintaining an elite image among the big four (again because of its consulting focus). As a result, Deloitte as a brand name carries great weight on resume.

    Cons

Because of the sales culture, the people at Deloitte are less down-to-earth compared to people at other big four and this can impact the level of satisfaction at the workplace. People constantly try to compete in terms of building the right relationships, resulting in office politics.

    Advice to Management

Improve openness and be consistent with what you set out to do in talks and how you actually carry yourself around the office.
