I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Deloitte Consulting provides a good platform to learn new things and engage in complex projects. Compared to the other big four accounting firms with consulting arms, Deloitte Consulting has a great brand and projects are generally interesting.

    Cons

Partners and directors will often over scope, leading to subordinates to have to figure it out. This could be a pro, but often time, puts a lot of pressure. Internal work and practice development is more of a political game. Work life balance, regardless of what they say, doesn't really exist.

    Advice to Management

Continue to drive growth and try harder to be innovative.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great for resume building, excellent potential for upward movement in relatively short time (performance-based), as Deloitte is quick to lay off underperformers and places high emphasis on developing and retaining only the highest quality individuals.

    Cons

Must be able to juggle numerous, often competing demands simultaneously with short-time to required completion and without sacrificing quality, and with this comes very long working hours (multiple days straight in certain circumstances).

    Advice to Management

Great job so far, though I would recommend perhaps being less sensitive to GPA when evaluating entry-level support staff as GPA does not necessarily reflect on-the-job competence, general knowledge or ability to learn quickly; when too much emphasis is placed on nit picking, the entire firm/group is left understaffed and overworked, which often drives out the top performers who eventually burn out.

    Pros

Great place to start your career. Having a Big 4 name on your resume will carry weight for the rest of your professional career.

    Cons

The hours are long and grueling. Expect to work nights, weekends, lunches. Some of the smartest people burn out the fastest. DO NOT book up your schedule. Book half of it then be the hero to step in to help when others are overloaded.
