Pros
Fantastic opportunities to grow, network and work with senior clients (CXO's, VPs, Directors). Culture supports new ideas as long as you are able to sell it and put the horsepower behind it to make it happen. If you are driven and self-motivated you will do well here. Have grown x100 during my time in the firm and after 3 years at Deloitte (after graduation) I believe I am on-par with many senior managers and IT architects working in industry for 10+ years.
Cons
Compensation, compensation, compensation. Growing up through the firm you get "nothing" and are expected to work for free. Despite lots of "communication" about retaining EP performers, the firm is not living up to it. "PAY" is king, Deloitte is about making money, so are their employees. However, the firm is intent on selling us on their so-called value proposition of growth and other compensation, i.e. benefits +other stuff. At the end of day, I need to make money and grow financially. Deloitte will not give you that if you grow up through firm. Instead, jump around to around companies than come here. You will make at least 20% more than idiots like us who stay here and get promoted through the ranks. Am I bitter? Yes.
Advice to Senior Management
Want to retain EP performers? Get your act together and compensate us for our talent and hard work. We demonstrate our value to you and our clients. Pay us what you pay experienced hires you are so desperate to recruit.
Pros
- Great brand recognition
- Ability to work with smart people
- Good learning opportunities
Cons
- Salary increments are meagre
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
Lots of experience and exposure to large clients
Cons
Long hours and little recognition
Advice to Senior Management
Salaries should be changed so that they are competitive with other consulting firms.
Pros
- Excellent opportunities for personal and professional growth
- Are often stretched beyond capabilities, accelerating growth
- Great culture
- Strong capability
Cons
- Compensation is low compared to peers
- Work life balance often tipped too heavily in favour of work, especially if you are travelling
Advice to Senior Management
- Increase compensation or risk losing additional talent
- Be up front about work-life imbalances
- Increase core training at the beginning instead of throwing new hires to the lions
Pros
Work with some of the most talented/bright individuals, network with many influential people at the firm and in industry, get exposure to many clientele and different technologies, good knowledge managemen system, many opportunities to enhance leadership and communication skills.
Cons
Long hours, too many politics (it's all about persception), compensation below average, no choice in what service line you're selected for and what project/client you work on. Absolutely no work-life balance.
Advice to Senior Management
360 degree feedback is necessary. Partners are aware of the issues at the firm, but do not make any attempt to change them, hence high turnover will continue. Try to put processes in place to reward and retain top talent.
