I worked at Deloitte full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    -Located in the downtown core.
    -A large diverse team
    -meet many new people everyday
    -Very hard working team

    Cons

-IT Support Management team creates a culture where we don't often say no to users and as a result users push the envelope by asking for anything and EVERYTHING. This puts a tremendous amount of pressure on the Depot team to find a computer part we don't normally stock within an unreasonable time.
-I was often been task to do a lot of menial work. ie. packing and shipping out computer parts, unboxing computer monitors - which happens very often.
-You spend most of your time handing out mouse/keyboards/computer accessories. Users come in demanding for parts and won't accept no for an answer. Felt like you were working in a bestbuy store.
-Because senior management only measure your work based on how many tickets you close, you are pressured to meet quotas.
-Your access is greatly restricted, to generate a BES activation code (which takes less than a few min to do) requires a ticket which may take up to few hours or a day for the escalation team to do.
-Often you are given many menial very low priority task to do and if you forget to do one you'll get in trouble.
-Senior management puts a very high emphasis on office etiquette and appearance. I understand IT is customer service but they took it to a whole new level.
-Clock watching by management. They watch the time you come in, when you leave for lunch, when you come back from lunch and when you leave at the end of day. Being 15 minutes off will get you a 1-1 meeting with management.
    -Ultra high pace, stressful environment.
    -Very structured environment
-Often times you end up working overtime
    -Repetitive work.
    -Low salary

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-You would a drastic reduction in tickets if you stop making IT team a bestbuy shop.

    Pros

You will learn to navigate your way around a variety of political atmosphere spanning from internal Deloitte politics, client politics, vendor politics and any form of politics you can think of.

    Cons

You need to play the game regardless of your skills

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This is an old school model and will not last in the new age. People have greater access to information and the abusive nature of the Brand name will eventually collapse as the world becomes more transparent

    Pros

Great office culture, friendly people and strong team-oriented atmosphere, focus on work life balance, lots of opportunities for growth
