Pros
- Collective responsibility
- Great management
Cons
- Might be boring
- Slow progress
Pros
The graduate programme I'm on has verry good training, both compulsory and optional. You are encouraged to pursue knowledge and expertise in areas you are interested in.
Most people i worked with are really nice and promote work life balance.
Flexible working arrangements. Though not always possible depends on the client, but when possible, even analysts are given the flexibility.
Cons
Projects are not as strategic as I was hoping for when I joined.
The company is expanding into too many areas in my opinion. We joined to do idea-based, high-value-adding and preferably strategic work. But instead, sometimes we get mundane and repetitive work.
Transfers between departments and countries could be more flexible.
Advice to Senior Management
Become best in something, instead of trying to amass everything. Be clearer about why the company is doing what it's doing and communicate it to every level of the firm. Provide people with more opportunities to transfer between departments and countries.
Pros
Well respected. Seriously clever people. Decent renumeration. Exciting projects
Cons
Many very nice people individually but horrible internal people skills. Very slow and resistant to change. Very set in it's ways. Not good at integrating new people. Terrible performance management. Very little feeling that anyone has any vested interest in you doing well - everyone is just out for themselves.
Advice to Senior Management
Consulting isn't that big, start behaving like a dynamic, agile business. Allow your employees to feel valued and part of the team - not just a number
Pros
Plenty of learning opportunities
Working alongside some very intelligent people
Great for CV
Experience in several sectors
Good team spirit
Cons
Most work is London based, so will need to travel in if based in a regional office
Internal development work alongside client work can be suffocating
Working hours (dependant on project) can be very long
Career can come down to whether Director/Partner likes you or not
Advice to Senior Management
Less focus on internal development work
Support better work/life balance
More effective performance management procedure
Recompensing staff more competitively (compared to other Big4)
Pros
Clients
Challenging work
Colleagues - friendly and professional
Cons
No work life balance
Poor relative pay
Sometimes it can feel like you are on a billing conveyor belt
Advice to Senior Management
Put people first
Pros
Great people, forward-thinking, lots of opportunities for professional growth, good performance is rewarded. Plenty of opportunities for career advancement if it wanted.
Cons
Slararies are generally quite low.
Advice to Senior Management
Salaries tend to be quite low.
Pros
good work life balance, brand value, training
Cons
salary and other benifits are not good enough
Pros
High-profile clients; good team spirit with bright and capable colleagues. good development and learning opportunities. Good support staff and travel arrangements
Cons
Pay and bonus; cumbersome performance management processes und intransparent ratings. Feedback too much number-based at cost of qualitative feedback; while long working hours expected, too frequent stretch and work-life balance never achievable
Pros
- Very fast growing part of the organisation provides unique opportunities for growth.
- The knowledge level across the firm in almost domains are strong and is shared on request. Hence you could use that as collateral as well as for personal learning
Cons
- Senior management support is not very strong. At times you would have to be pro-active and be able to find your own way.
Pros
Full of great people who are talented and highly competent
Cons
Poor work-life balance, performance review can be inconsistent and talent management can be improved
Advice to Senior Management
Need to focus on talent management in particularly around consistency of management skills within the management team
