Pros
The people are very smart, and there is a lot of room for growth in the firm. Training is always available for what ever you wish to learn and compensation is competitive.
Cons
The firm does demand a lot of you....in addition to your project work you will be expected to put in time on proposals/building solutions/recruiting, etc.
Advice to Senior Management
Understand that not all within the firm wish to put their nights/weekends in to contributing to firm initiatives. Many do, yet not everyone.
Pros
- Strong Network of employees
- High level of talent
- Strong library of tools and training
Cons
- No work life balance
- No support towards further education for most employees (outside GSAP)
- Hard-line Metrics based
- Runs like a military program
- Promotions are few and far between
- HORRIBLE Culture!
Advice to Senior Management
Implement the suggestions and feedback from the 10,000 surveys you send out!
Pros
Great for the resume and as a place to jump off to other opportunities. Lots of classes and resources made available to employees to educate themselves.
Cons
Lot of fake emphasis on work/life balance. If you ask a question of 4 people you get 3 1/2 different answers.
Advice to Senior Management
Company needs an HR department and stated policy on a manner of things so employees know what to do to get ahead.
Pros
- Fantastic Learning and Development program
- On leading edge of technology for such a large firm
- Leadership takes feedback and integrates employee suggestions
- Organization fosters an environment of professional development
- Great internal flexibility to move to other departments within the firm
Cons
- Choose the personality of your boss wisely - they will affect the rest of your career
- Compensation varied wildly from year to year
- Regardless of performance, you will have to wait in line for advancement
Advice to Senior Management
See the cons above
Pros
This is a good place to work.
Good learning opportunities, Chance to grow more and has retirement benefits that other companies dont have
Cons
You have to market your self to go up the ladder. You have to do a lot of firm contributions
Advice to Senior Management
Over all very good. Sometimes people who dont work can come to the top because they can talk . more attention should be given to people who work/creative
Pros
Can work with some very intelligent people
Many opportunities to learn and grow
Excellent benefits package
Cons
A lot of emphasis on business development
Not much quality time with senior leadership
Be careful what you let them know; they will use whatever they can against you. I felt that I could trust them and was honest with them and ended up being let go, so always remember that they are just a business, not a family.
Pros
Great Training, really genuine and supportive people, there are great ways to get involved with groups you care about--i.e, Proposal writing, research for new industry areas, volunteer activities, and more. The firms has so many resources that everything you want is right there--and they are always giving away gifts!
Cons
It can be difficult to serve government clients, and I was often working on deliverables that amounted to "to-do" lists for our project or re-compilation of work we had already completed.
Advice to Senior Management
The leadership could establish a process for pushing back on clients who are not seriously committed to the work being done, and force client leadership to put strong leaders in place at the project level to support the work that is going on.
Pros
Deloitte name recognized as one of big 4 looks good on the resume, in theory but that's it!!!
Cons
NO work life balance
Low pay and compensation for the area
Horrible management
No factual communication on travel requirement
Backstabbing culture
Advice to Senior Management
When asking people to relocate to very expensive areas compensate them appropriately. When you are going to have people work projects that are different than what you are hiring them for and it requires more travel, INFORM YOUR PEOPLE!!! You will continue to have high turn over especially in specialty areas and you'll have no depth of talent as long as you keep treating people like warm bodies to use for billable hours, because it's obvious that's all you care about!!!! Thank god above I escaped that horrible company!!!!
Pros
Great place to start a career and learn the skills. Deloitte is great with developing young professionals.
Cons
Some projects can make you work crazy hours. Competition among peers goes up as you move up the ranks. Tendency to award people who are good at networking and talking than peole who are dedicated to work and client service.
Advice to Senior Management
Find ways to identify and award hard working, smart and honest professionals than just the people who are good at networking, talking and flattering bosses.
Pros
Great leadership; great technology; really smart ppl; and, cool tools to leverage.
Cons
Sometimes a little to bureaucratic and political, but expected with an org this size.
Advice to Senior Management
Do more robust 360 degree feedback processes for managers at the 3 performance rating level and emphasize the ability to develop and actively lead teams in addition to hitting sales metrics for managers and senior managers.
