    Surrounded by smart people

    ProsI enjoyed working with top tier talent who cared about getting things right the first time. Advancement opportunities were available and encouraged. Excellent benefits package and vacation. Lots of programs for advancing women and networking opportunities.

    ConsCan be tough to stand out. Pressure to work long hours sometimes just for the sake of showing you can...not necessarily because it was required by the workload.

    Great Learning Opportunity

    ProsGreat experiences, lots of training in soft skills, work with very smart, motivated professionals who are constantly trying to make themselves better. People very much care about their jobs and performing well, both for their client and themselves.

    Deloitte also cares a lot about their people and if you are passionate about something, they will allow you to do it.

    ConsCompetitive teams. Sometimes more about who you know than anything else.

    Great place to acquire core knowledge of consulting and build a solid network

    ProsTons of resources at your disposal; true emphasis on work-life balance- core part of the culture - work hard, play hard; very active national level women's initiative; Well-respected Federal Practice allowing for little to no travel in DC-metro area.

    ConsIt is definitely an up-or-out mentality which is not for everyone; It is important to find the right mentors and advocates in leadership, or you can get lost in the mix; Many people wish there was more transparency in the promotion and salary process.

    Advice to Senior ManagementI think a bigger/ more formal emphasis on research and publications would create a strong base to launch strategic engagements from and attract additional top-tier talent.

    Deloitte is a great company to work for!

    ProsGreat company to grow and accelerate your career at. They offer competitive salary as well. Deloitte has a great promotion structure. You will get promoted every two-three years as long as you do what's required. Heavy emphasis on training and it's mandatory for all employees to attend Deloitte University in Texas.

    ConsYou have to be willing to work 45-50 hours minimum. Most Consultants work well over 50 hours. Additionally, you are required to put in anywhere from 150-200 hours in to firm contributions (outside of client related work).

    Advice to Senior ManagementGet away from the firm contribution!!! This should be an optional thing just like it is with other Consulting firms.

    Great place to work.

    ERS Senior Consultant (Current Employee)

    Pros- Fast paced.
    - Best and the brightest to work with.
    - Top end technology and resources like ultrabooks, iPhone 5s.
    - Best tools to make your job easier.
    - Work life Balance (no really, over the the whole year).
    - Compassionate managers.
    - Own your career.

    Cons- Pay could be better (but you go up fast).
    - Your entire experience will depend on the project you are assigned.
    - Review process is lengthy and drawn out.
    - Sales! Sales! Sales!
    - During busy season, it's busy.
    - Own your own career, so if you fail, it's on you.

    Advice to Senior ManagementWhat i would like to see is: Less focus on what resources fill what need and focus on what the end goal is. Too often resources are just pulled around haphazardly and then they are just set up to fail. If you pull a marketing major in to program algorithms, obviously it's going to fail for both the engagement and the resource.
    Don't bottle people into an industry. Once one industry contracts let the next expansion flourish. All to often good people will leave when they could leverage knowledge in another industry.

    What you are doing well: Letting people own their career. Letting people take the initiative to make a difference. Keeping the focus on happy people matter.

    Awesome Company High Expectations

    ProsOutstanding benefits, pay, and time-off. Leadership really cares about the development of the younger and entry level positions. Opportunity for advancement is based on a 2 year plan and is basically an automatic promotion. Training facility and learning experiences in Texas are unbeatable. Great young work environment as well and you can move projects easily if you are not happy with your current client. Work averages about 50 hours per week.

    ConsExtremely competitive and compared through rating system which reflects raises to colleagues in all aspects. Hard to keep up with client, firm, and proposal initiatives. If you are not from feeder schools i.e. Virginia Tech, UVA, JMU, etc. you will have trouble getting the major opportunities associated with the connections through alumni.
