I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay is competitive...other benefits are so/so.

    Cons

Deloitte advertises to its employees lots of opportunities for training, but realistically the good training sessions are few and far between as they fill up very quickly. It's also fairly difficult to get to Deloitte University unless you're a new hire or promoted to a new level. The "Consultant" job level qualifications are too broad. You have "Consultants" with 2 years of professional experience started directly out of college and those with 8-12 years that have MBAs. Both are "Consultants". Deloitte short-changes Experienced hires. Deloitte talks a big-game regarding culture and values for other organizations, but does not take care of its own housekeeping. Very cocky atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

Prior to "Senior Consultant" the "Consultant" job should have an intermediate progression.

    Pros

Work life balance isn't as bad as some people think. Great benefits including PTO, phone, fitness subsidy

    Cons

Management only cares about how many hours you bill the client.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Deloitte has been and continues to be a true workplace of the future that, while asking a lot as any large organization or firm does, provides its employees with significant flexibility and predictability and a flat management structure that welcomes new ideas.

    Cons

It's not always easy to move around internally or try new opportunities in other areas of the firm. It's best to come in knowing exactly what you want to do.

    Advice to Management

Encourage employees to try new areas, projects, networks, etc., especially high performers. Also more closely align compensation to the market.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pro to working at Deloitte is the scope of projects and people. Also they really invested in training their consultants in innovative ways.

    Cons

The cons focus around how hyper political some of the partners are. They can actually impede revenue growth through their need for control.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good news: While excellent performance is always helpful, the way to get ahead at Deloitte is to become valuable to the partner and client. If you get on the right project team, it can be a lot of fun and very rewarding.

    Cons

Bad news: If you become too valuable in a specific role, you can find your advancement blocked by a partner or manager who doesn't want to lose you, so research how potential managers and partners treat their staff people before you commit to a project. Choose your starting place (function or practice) carefully, because it is very difficult to transfer internally between practices (Consulting to/from Audit/Risk) or major functions (Commercial to/from Federal)

    Advice to Management

Stop reorganizing the firm and do a better job of vetting the very senior partners.
