I worked at Delphi Community School Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookDoesn't RecommendNegative Outlook
Teaching staff possesses a good academic background & cares about the students. There was a great deal of camaraderie. Community pride in the school is evident.
None of the past three lead administrators of the high school have had experience in teaching academic classes, yet are assigned to evaluate academic course teachers. The corporation has apparently accepted the current education reform model that uses standardized testing as the primary means of determining academic achievement for all grade levels. Too much emphasis on preparing students, especially elementary level, for testing. Lack of opportunities exist for the most gifted students in all grade levels. Teachers are expected to conform to a particular behavior-oriented style of instruction, regardless of the course, class, or group of students.
Advice to Management
Let the teachers teach! The staff knows more about appropriate child development and academic teaching than does the administration that are "evaluating" them. Reject the statehouse's politically led, un-supported "reform" models & mandates and serve YOUR community.
I have been working at Delphi Community School Corporation
Teachers collaborate and care about each other. Staff get togethers are fun. People seem to truly care about one another.
Administration seems to care little for its employees years of service. It all about the RISE and making a perfect bell curve. Great teachers are let go every year or ranked very low due to not being friendly enough with administrators. It is a very sad place to be employed these days. It was not always that way. State changes have caused great distress to teachers in general.
Advice to Management
Stand up for what is right. Just because the state says that you can do something, does not mean it is ethically or morally right. Get a conscious.
