Technical, in a good position for growth in Electronic Controls and wiring systems. Delivers comparably higher quality products to OEM.

    Cons

Run by financiers. Upper management in North America is apathetic to employee and customers' needs.

    Advice to Management

    care about your customers more!

    Pros

Strong recruitment and career development policies in 1990s, before separation from GM, created a strong in-house technical competency. There were a lot of talented people on-board, and it was generally a good work environment with the possibility for career advancement.

    Cons

Delphi was poorly managed after separating from GM, and has been on a death-spiral ever since bankruptcy. Management and HR have been primarily focused on a cost reduction / down-sizing path for last 10 years with little consideration on how to sustain / grow into the future. It is management by crisis with the main goal being to make a short-term budget. There is little respect for long-time employees who are viewed as financial liabilities rather than sources of experience and knowledge. There is a sense of dread hanging in the air most days, particularly for employees approaching age 50 as they know their time is short until the next round of cuts. Delphi offers at-will, day-by-day employment, so it is clear they don't really value people, despite the contrary rhetoric used in their public statements.

    Advice to Management

Bring on-board leadership with a true passion for excellence who embrace integrity and loyalty, not just those who look good in a suit but can do no more than use those words in a policy statement.

    Pros

Challenging work when new products and research are in place. I learned a lot of embedded systems in there even through difficult times. Nice offices and people.

    Cons

Bureaucracy, long times to get approvals and due dates remain the same. Rotation of management with personnel with no experience on the field.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the data not to what people says. Management sometimes is focused in "star" guys when an issue has been fixed when there are good engineers that have no issues at all in their development.
