I have been working at Delphi full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great team to work with. People are very smart and professional, and they treat me like family! The team is fairly small so there isn't much hierarchy. I got the freedom to solve problems my way and recommend them to the executive level and have my strategies implemented. And the pay was great! The job itself was also challenging and fun! Loved my job there! No complain!

    Cons

For the groups with a lot more people, things start to slow down, and you start becoming one of the "heads" just to get your job done everyday.

I have been working at Delphi

    Pros

The salary and benefits are good despite the economic issues.

    Cons

Does not promote from within company. Found opportunities posted on Glass door and not on internal posting site. Clearly interested in seeking younger employees for less money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest with employees and provide guarded information. Especially when things are published in other reputable newspapers.

I worked at Delphi full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Delphi has very good work-life balance. Family always comes first and getting time off for emergencies or to take care of loved ones is no problem. Rarely did I work over 40 hours per week. Other employees were friendly. Very structured and highly organized work environment.

    Cons

Delphi went through a brutal restructuring that left morale extremely low. When revenue was off, Temporary Layoff was required. There was little room for advancement. Constantly tight budgets meant raises were few and far between, and were very small.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take risks to turn around sales and share the wealth with employees to improve morale. Reduce bureaucracy and encourage more creativity. Invest more in marketing to strengthen the brand and improve sales.

I worked at Delphi as a contractor (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Challenging supply chain with true international reach internal plants, distribution centers, subcontract and parts suppliers. Deep and broad Bills of Materials. If you enjoy analytical challenges this is a great environment.

    Cons

While I was there chapter 11 and a declining US automotive industry put stress on people and the overall organization. It is a tribute to the people there that they responded well to save their own and their neighbors jobs. The company has been restructured and has a positive future ahead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember all organizations are just groups of people until they share the vision and have the tools and knowledge to execute it... then they are a team. I think Delphi management actually fills this role well.

    Pros

Company places an emphasis on employee's Quality of family Life. Low Turnover. Opportunity for Growth within the company.

    Cons

Generation gap within the organization, with an emphasis on aged former GM Employees. Company continues to trim strong talent, in order to hit short term financial goals.

    Pros

Longevity can happen. 401K match is descent.

    Cons

Management Turn-over pushing experienced people out of the way with newer faster models that make a lot of noise, move very fast, make people work faster and then find out they couldn't meet expectations, then blame somebody else Work is buzier. A lot of wheel spinning is the true result. Skipping steps creates potholes. Payscale does not keep up with inflation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of your key people before it's too late!
Figure out who they are and treat them like gold !!

I have been working at Delphi full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Respectable pay and benefits. Can be interesting work.

    Cons

Delphi is no longer customer focused. Instead, its sole focus seems to be on Wall Street with lots of smoke and mirrors so the purse strings are very tight. Very concerned about not having anything really new in the pipeline. The organization has lost a lot of brilliant people over the past few years who no longer wanted to be part of a sinking ship.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on the customer and new technologies - not just Wall Street.
