Pros
Relaxed atmosphere, flight privileges; For aircraft maintenance: an emphasis on safety and compliance, everyone generally has desire to "do the job right"
Cons
Although most seem to enjoy their jobs, morale toward the company is low, pay is low, impossible to advance without relocating to another city
Advice to Senior Management
Allow current employees to test for positions to see if they're competent before hiring off the street. Look critically at the use of contract (temporary) employees. They are costing the company more money than they save.
Pros
Good name and when you are living in one of the HUB cities it is nice to work for Delta. Alot of perks.
Cons
Very behind the times when it comes to policies and unique perks that other airlines have for employees. FA - is a grueling job.
Advice to Senior Management
You need to look at the company from different perspectives. Happy employees show pride i their work and that is key to success.
Pros
Flight benefits are my number one benefit. Great work life balance. Laid back work environment. Professionally competent people. Good work ethics.
Cons
employees are not considered/viewed as assets
Advice to Senior Management
pay attention to rewarding merit, quality people
Pros
- Flight Benefits are probably the only reason all non-upper-management work.
Cons
- Pretty lazy culture.
- Management is not very talented or qualified for that matter
Advice to Senior Management
- stop thinking your the best cos you merged. Size does not always imply market share
Pros
Great Place to Work; There is a great opportunity to grow; a very friendly environment to work and thrive and grow
Cons
Compensation is not as high but if you go up and work hard, you can definitely thrive and grow and be successful
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work and make Delta the biggest and world's greatest airline in the world now and forever.
Pros
Great pay for flight attendants and great company..no union which means open door policy and good relationship with management
Cons
Low pay and not much incentive to earn more. Pay is the same in Texas or New York. It is a hard industry during these economic times to work in...
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up with the ever changing information and have answers for employees when they ask.
Pros
Great company, great benefits, travel the world for free! Company treats employees fairly.
Cons
Change change change....difficult to keep up with all the new rules and regs coming ahead. Opportunity to travel the world for free, but not so much when all the flights are full...have to choose carefully! Pay, just average. Work schedule can be 24/7 holidays and weekends this can also be a pro....much to choose from as far as hours worked if you're not a 9 to 5er!
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up with the ever changing information and have answers for employees when they ask.
Pros
Very good to employees. Benefits align with industry norms. Salaries in represented groups are higher than non-represented groups, but that may be changing soon for non-represented groups.
Cons
Very archaic when it comes to automation. For many years they have pursued technology but have rarely embraced it. Often they play follow-the-leader versus developing or implementing anything new.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow your front line people to treat their customers well. Get rid of all of the "after the event" critiques, and allow your front line people to do the right thing when it comes to handling irops, etc. Stop nickel and diming every customer. The revenue you generate is a short-term gain with a long-term negative impact on customer ratings.
Pros
They treat hourly employees well to keep them from unionizing
Cons
Leadership does not like to be challenged
Advice to Senior Management
Encourage employees to challenge the way it has always been done
Pros
Flight benefits enable you to travel to a lot of places for free
Friendly work environment
Analytical advancement
Cons
I worked for Delta for 7 years. Although it was my first job out of college, by the time I left the company, I was making less than what I was making when I first started Delta. Normally, you would expect to have a faster increase in your salary in the first several years of your career. What's more, I was getting at least a 4 out of 5 in every performance review I ever went through.
What made me so mad was that I found out that a colleague of mine who had a lower title than me was making 20% more than I did.
Finally, I gave up on Delta and took another job with another employer for twice the salary. Unfortunately, many bright people with great skills had to do that.
Advice to Senior Management
Do not throw away talent and at least be internally fair about compensation.
