Pros
Great travel benefits, Interesting group of people to work with, Everyday is something new.
Cons
Low pay, long hours, company does not always think things through- just because it looks good on paper and sounds good to the ears does not mean it will work. Lack of communication to employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your frontline employees more.
Pros
Good pay and Benifits good work.
Cons
Old boy network. not always fair.
Advice to Senior Management
Start asking the workers about ideas.
Pros
Great travel benefits. Health benefits are competitive.
Cons
Divisions tend to promote from within. Not much opportunity to move around at the higher management levels.
Advice to Senior Management
Support more cross-divisional pollination of skills.
Pros
the flight benefits are great, to be able to travel any where in the world for a minimum or no charge sometimes. Buddy passes for family and friends, good flight benefits for your parents and the same flight benefits for your children and spouse.
Cons
the hours can be all over, sometimes you have to work the holidays
Advice to Senior Management
patience its very important
Pros
Great work environment, great work/life balance, amazing flight benefits, schedules are very flexible. Physically being in and around large aircraft is always interesting. Most of the people are great to work with. Working to satisfy federal regulations develops strong logical step-by-step reasoning skills. A "no compromises" approach to passenger safety is instilled in the corporate culture and is actively promoted by upper management.
Cons
Airline Engineering work is tedious and repetitive, involves an extensive amount of paper work, only basic engineering skills are required, heavily regulations can become cumbersome to doing business. Work flow is highly seasonal and stressful periods can be replaced by extremely boring periods.
Pros
FLY FOR FREE!!!
Don't have to take work home with you
Cons
Pay is ok
No advancement opportunities locally
Management makes poor decisions often times
Advice to Senior Management
Management can be more involved with the front line employees.
Pros
Easy work except during bad weather and Holidays.
Cons
The Memphis location is like there is still a Civil War going on. Some people discribed it like a prison enviorment. Alot of hatters..
Advice to Senior Management
Control the hatting. It is out of hand. Get serious about the times and provide change do not just ignore the problem.
Pros
Great opportunities for advancement. Good benefits, incl. flight benefits, health, 401k. For the most part good managers. If you work hard, you'll move up quickly.
Cons
Shift work. Working most holidays and week-ends. No social life unless you have the seniority to pick a good shift. Flight delays, cancellations, rude passengers: it just get's too much sometimes. Many disgrunteled employees who had to carry the load whenever DL wasn't doing well and took peoples benefits away.
Advice to Senior Management
Whenever DL is not doing well, it seems employees are loosing some of their benefits. So the good ones are leaving and the ones who like to complain, but don't take action and look for another job are left behind.
Pros
Positive attitude toward employees from management
Cons
There are occasionally some bad apples in management and there is some reluctance to weed them out even though the complaints are many.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep the communication open--keep consistent and continue to have meetings where changes in various policies are shared to everyone.
Pros
Free flights, nice people, descent place to work
Cons
Kind of boring operations focused company with traditional hirearchy
