I have been working at Delta Dental full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

After interviewing with other companies, I can say that Delta has pretty good benefits.

    Cons

I can say my area does not deal with a lot of politics. But politics is what I hear most from others. And maybe politics one of the biggest cons just like everywhere else is politics but of course, that would depend on how one would react to it.

I have been working at Delta Dental full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great starting position. Not enough room for promotion, as well as deprecated technologies, but it's still good experience and a foot in the door for other development work.

    Cons

Very top heavy. I feel like there's more managers than employees.
Company culture leaves a lot to be desired. It's an insurance company with a heavy focus on IT (that's the back bone of everything they do) yet they refuse to acknowledge this. They want to remain professional to the point of being kind of silly. They're very uptight.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Loosen up a bit. Things are taken far too seriously.

I have been working at Delta Dental as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Flexibility- As an intern they were able to schedule around my classes and give me enough hours. They were even flexible if I needed a day off here or there.

Environment- It is a laid back environment within the sales team. The Dress Code is business casual. Delta Dental as a company has the feel of an established corperation which I enjoyed. It gave me an opportunity to feel like I was part of a very professional company, and not one with a crazy party work envionment that many sales internships have to mask the monotony of the tasks or cold calling you do there.

    Cons

Sometimes there are slow days as an intern, where there isn't a ton of work to do and those days can go slow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing the same thing. Management is very fair about their goals and expectations, and they are extremely pleasant to work with and for.

I have been working at Delta Dental as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The internship for Sales and Account Management was a real business role. I preformed many of the tasks the full time staff does, and there are opportunities available to me inside and outside of the company because of the experience.

    Cons

There are down times where there isn't a ton of work. It would be nice to have things to do or work on to help make the day go quicker in these times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management has been great for me. They are extremely flexible with school schedules, and my advice would be to continue with the style of management they already have.

    I worked at Delta Dental

    Pros

OK pay, some good people, bonuses and some perks. Beautiful building and great volunteer programs.

    Cons

Public Affairs department has severe issues and no direction. High paid supervisors that stab employees in the back and are extremely racist. If they think you are doing a better job than they are, they criticize each and everything you do to ensure they keep their job and also try to push you out. The gossip is a huge problem with bully tactics.
