Good learning experiences but only through self-motivation and observation

Cell Processing Associate II (Former Employee)
Morris Plains, NJ

I worked at Dendreon full-time for more than a year

ProsGood colleagues, opportunity to work with an innovative cellular therapy in both clinical trials and production phase.

Conslack of leadership gave way to unproductive competition within the same site that eventually was one of the three that was shutdown.

Management is pathetic and the ship is sinking.

Mfg, Supervisor (Former Employee)
Seattle, WA

I worked at Dendreon full-time for more than 8 years

ProsThe location of the corporate offices in Seattle is quite posh and allows for great restaurant visiting and afternoon shopping.

ConsThe management doesn't understand what they're doing, the company has grown too fast and never understood the market. The executive team got greedy and ruined the company.

Advice to Senior Managementget a grip on reality.

Challenging work in an ever changing and demanding young biotech research company.

ConsWorking for a biotech research company in the commercial world is not for the faint of heart!

Great while it was growing. The company made some basic mistakes and was forced to close the NJ plant.

Manufacturing Associate

Manufacturing Associate (Current Employee)
Union City, GA

I have been working at Dendreon full-time for less than a year

ProsIt was alright job, it is in a manufacturing facility, so essentially you are doing cell process work. Work is repetitive, not really much thinking involved

Consnot really fun, and tedious work. alright management team. I don't see a bright future with the compnany.

A company in chaos

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Seattle, WA

I worked at Dendreon for less than a year

ProsGenerous salary and benefits, including severance packages
Powerful new technology
Great product. I truly believe it has/will change the face of oncology.

ConsNew and naive
Grew to fast because they were optimistic to a fault. Quadrupled their size in anticipation of sales. But didn't know how to market their drug, then had to lay off more than half of staff and close a facility.

Advice to Senior ManagementReally need to analyze situations better. A great product doesn't necessarily mean success. No drug can sell itself. Need experience and infrastructure rather than big ideas.
Don't lose sight of the values that made Dendreon great. Need to balance the new with the old.

Excellent in Theory, Disappointing in Practice.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Union City, GA

I have been working at Dendreon full-time for more than a year

ProsFantastic product concept, good benefits, decent salary. Excellent team of professionals at my level.

ConsThere are wide disparities in management quality, training and experience within departments. Work-life balance is challenging, given management's expectation of unlimited availability regardless of whether outside normally scheduled days and times. Little concern if any, is given to the personal cost or inconvenience to the employees in question.
