Pros – Good pay, decent benefits, caring front line coworkers. You are part of a company where you feel you are touching lives.
Cons – Inept management. The office politics are dysfunctional and rampant. Human Resource department is incapable of making strong decisions. I have witnessed subordinates disrespecting their managers and nothing happens to them. My manager was the most difficult I have ever had... I basically called him on it because I had too much self respect to allow them to continue to mistreat me. It is known in the division that several managers are bullies and nothing happens to them. Do not believe what you hear or see....
Advice to Senior Management – Stop trying to buy employees loyalty and respect with company luncheons and parties. Make a decision and stick with it. Get rid of the prickly managers that seem to go out of the way to do something improperly in order to play political games. Overall if you as senior management do not see this on the front lines... you are blind.

Current Employee – been working at Dendreon
Pros – Many dedicated professionals willing to share their knowledge. Being on the forefront of cancer therapy. Working for a grounded manager who, against inconsistent executive support, works for the best interest of the team and the company. I stay because of my manager but will leave when timing is right.
Beneath the executive level and for the most part, there is mutual respect between all levels of education, regardless of whether you have a GED or PhD.
Excellent IT department. The team is very responsive and the VP really listens. His employees are committed, hard working, patient.
Cons – As a supervisor, working with HR is almost painful. If you get on the wrong side of Sr. HR Management, forget support, particularly with the executive level and forget knowing why. Too busy hanging on to political grudges. Not proactive in addressing issues and could be arrogant and dismissive. Getting expenses reimbursed by accounting in a timely fashion is a joke.
Advice to Senior Management – Believe in and acknowledge your employees for the hard work and dedication they put into their work. It's a partnership, not just them working for you.
Find some humility and open your doors to communicating with others. Employees might actually share pertinent insights for the benefit of the company.
The market will change and employees and job seekers will have choices. This is a good time to change for the better.

Pros – Involved in a new technology to better science. Very good salary.
Cons – Very hostile environment with large amount of office politics. Sr. Management does not give clear directions, at the end of the day it is never their fault. Long working hours, no work and life balance.

Pros – Dendreon has a challenging and demanding environment. Often required to prove efficacy of drug performance at all cost. Management very promotional and lack understanding of core bio medical technology.
Cons – Twice I was a part of a clinical trial that required 'messaging' of the results. This came at the order of senior management. Reluctance was met with threats and worse.
Advice to Senior Management – The independent and appropriate handling of clinical trials are essential to the long-term survivability of Provenge. Short-term patches and short cuts will only be exposed later. Do the right thing.

Current Employee – been working at Dendreon
Pros – The best part of the job is the pay and the benefits. But this is their way of luring you in and feeling like they can disrespect you. In addition, they changed the pay rate and changing the income after they hired so many people.
Cons – Favoritism and cliques run this company. Also, they didn't do any background checks or drug screening so who knows who you may be working amongst. They have hired very ill educated people to run a high sensitive process thus causing communication issues, personal attacks, and inappropriateness such as using foul language and harsh approaches. If your money driven, I say try it! But don't say I didn't warn you - this place is by far the most unorganized company I have ever worked for.
Advice to Senior Management – Get people who actually have a background in the biotech field with education who will run the departments. I would also suggest organizational skills and managerial skills be either taught or incorporated into the business process. Get background checks on your people so that you are hiring the right people...
