I have been working at Dendreon full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The employees at Dendreon are great people who love what they do.

    Cons

Dendreon needs to address management issues at the Seal Beach site before they run the good employees away.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dendreon needs to figure out how to increase sales and to come up with additional products to create stability for the company.

I have been working at Dendreon full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The other people in my department are great: friendly, willing to help trouble shoot, and great communicators. Some of the time management is friendly and easy to work with. The base pay is good, although not excellent for mid-level in-house employees.

    Cons

When hiring they tout the bonus potential, but for in-house employees the board seems to feel that it is ok not to fund the bonus pool fully depsite the fact that we hit all our corporate objectives. If sales are the ones not hitting objectives, they should be the ones whose bonuses are penalized. Having come from another growing biotech company that really treated their employees as valued team members and ensured they were well compensated for their incredibly hard work, It was a bit of a shock my first year, when Dendreon's board cut bonuses for all staff despite the fact that all clinical/medical corporate goals had been achieved. Staff are constantly leaving. We had two people on our floor leave last week and I believe two more just gave notice this week. It is really disheartening.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Mid-level managers/Sr. Directors/Directors-Increase your communication skills. Many of you shoot first and ask questions later. This makes each work day a bit stressful, when really there are no major issuses and everything is running smoothly. Talking you down off the ledge and explaining the situation takes up considerable time and really causes a lot of stress for lower level employees. Please just read each email COMPLETELY and think about it before you jump to conclusions.

C-level-Advocate for the right people to the board. If you do not bonus the employees who are excelling at their jobs at the industry standard, they will leave.

I worked at Dendreon full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

good pay and benefits if you keep your job, great coworkers, convenient downtown office location, feels good to be part of innovative cancer treatment

    Cons

I have to agree with most of the comments on here regarding upper management and the way they seem to have overestimated and blew a lot of money expecting far greater sales.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I hope they get it together because if this type of treatment can be used to treat other types of cancers it will improve the lives of many people.

    Cons

Company has undergone major financial downturns and downsizing in the past years.

    Pros

They pay well, it used to be a fun company to work for.

    Cons

    No room to grow.

Figure out what is going on or people will keep leaving, unless that is what you want, which is definitely the consesnsus among employees.

    Pros

Great colleagues, great pay, manufactures a product that is truly innovative, working conditions are excellent. Good company overall, but management needs help!

    Cons

Management spends money very frivolously and compensates for this oversight by terminating employees and closing plants. Extremely wasteful with resources.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please stop being so wasteful with operating capital.
