Pros
Fun work environment. Management good, work/life balance was easy to maintain. Locations are opened 24 hours so that it is easy to work scheduling with school.
Cons
Little chances of being promoted within the company. Lot of suggestive selling, no set schedule/shift. have to work holidays and weekends.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow for more promotions internally and to listen to their employees. Employees have great ideas on how to improve the company but do not know where to turn.
Pros
Make friends around the community, meet intersting people, paid based on job performance (tips)
Cons
management was not very great or supportive-they played favorites, no benefits, not much room for advancement
Pros
Guests are nice and because they are open 24 hours, shifts are always available
Cons
Managers not really leaders and spend too much time in the office and not enough on the floor. Hours always being cut if business is slow. You drive in and then only get two hours of your shift
Advice to Senior Management
Treat people the way you expect them to treat guests. Try respecting the employees. Train better.
Pros
Builds Cashier and Customer Service skils
Cons
Overworks, doesnt pay overtime, no breaks, rude customers , no room for growth, no benefits.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop messing with crew members checks, we need all the money we earn!!!
Pros
As a server you get a lot of tables, which means more tips. The hours are very flexible because they're open 24 hours. Some managers are great!
Cons
A lot of the tips are not as large as they could be because you are waiting on 15 tables at once! Be prepared to work extremely hard. Some of the managers are not helpful or competent.
Advice to Senior Management
Lead your employees by example. Don't hide in the back office when the restaurant gets slammed and your employees need you. Encourage teamwork and hard-work by being hard-working yourself.
Pros
Some great customers, good coworkers, love to cook
Cons
First, they NEVER start you at the salary they offer. Then they tell you it is because you don't know how to do certain things. Lets say they offer $12-15 an hour BASED ON EXPERIENCE. $12 should be no experience at all. But you can bet you will start BELOW $10 an hour. You are told you MAY get a raise in 2 YRS!!! They offer "insurance", which turns out to be a limited benefit plan. They work you as hard as they can with no gratitude for your services. They expect us to perform "above and beyond standards". Who wants to do this when it isn't appreciated by ANY mangement position! All employees should be reviewed and rewarded for their abilities, loyalty, and hard work. Is that too much to ask from a company that prides itself on fairness????
Advice to Senior Management
Take good care of your loyal hard working employees. They were looking for jobs when you came along! Try to be honest with your employees. We appreciate it more than being left in the dark or lied to. Get over the labor thing. Some of your restaurants are FOUR times larger than a regular Denny's. Some are located at highways bringing in truckers as well as family business. You cannot run a restaurant using a program designed for a 40 seat restaurant to set the parameters for a 160 seat restaurant and expect it to be successful. It doesn't work. It kills your repeat business because of long waits to be seated , food shortages or outages, longer time on cooking due to being shortstaffed. One cook may be able to handle 35 customers an hour, but when that number doubles with just 1 cook, you are going to have angry customers, a frustrated wait staff and some VERY irate overworked cooks.
Pros
long hours a couple of days a week, very flexible
Cons
Competition of employees to wait more tables
Advice to Senior Management
Manage employee workload more evenly
Pros
I only had to work a few hours a day.
Cons
Always having to work weekends.
Advice to Senior Management
Get on the same page.
Pros
Fast cash, no more waiting for payday to pay those bills.
Meet new people all of the time.
Make new friends with coworkers sometimes.
Teamwork is highly promoted.
Managers have a vision and know how to achieve it.
Cons
The interview process was way to easy and not personal enough I felt.
Advice to Senior Management
I understand that time equals money and there are only so many of you, but please spend more time during interviews to conduct more thorough screening of applicants.
Pros
well, lots of room for advancement and the company understands your needs and promotes development. Very flexible schedule and good working environment
Cons
Well working with dennys has its own downsides. its a small company and requires the constant effort and support of your staff.
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership at dennys is good and a lot of people are committed to helping others in providing their best in terms of dedication and performence
