    Pros

Denny's is an established brand with great name recognition. Many of employees have years of experience and want to better use their skills. Employees want to succeed despite lack of leadership and vision. If you can survive at Denny's you can work anywhere.

    Cons

Culture of fear, consistent re-organization, senior leadership incompetence, failure to celebrate success, no idea of vision and values, lack of communication from senior leadership, and an organization that rewards the wrong activities. I have worked at two great organizations and know things can be different than they are at Denny's.

    Advice to Management

The board needs to find a new CEO. Money should be spent to invest in employees through training and development. It would be great if senior leadership could hold quarterly meetings and inform the employees of relevant issues. Senior leadership is not connected to the employee population, except for a few key VPs. Senior leadership has no idea how many employees are actively looking for another job.

    Pros

you meet different people, when theres events you get to make money by putting in lots hours, therefore you get overtime

    Cons

the menu is ridiculous. theres so many steps in making an item and most places want to put one cook on the line. You never get raises, i've had one raise in probably 9 years. There is never any reviews for a raise. They need to shorten the menu, all these items and one cook, its ridiculous. Maybe the top people should work a shift on the line and find out how it is. Besides a paycheck i see no reason to work for this company

    Advice to Management

Shorten the menu. make the benefits a lot better because right now there isnt any. Have some kind of company function set up to let the emlpoyees know you thank them (some kind of company party)

Management needs to be reviewed and retrained to better work with employees.

    Pros

tips are good and it's close to bus line. Some really nice customers.

    Cons

Upper management needs to work my job so they know what it's really like. You get in trouble when a customer complains and can be fired after two, even if the customer is drunk and cussing you out. And you can't protest.

    Advice to Management

Make management accountable, stop rudeness and dishonest practices.Hire more help, work load gets really over whelming at times. Management should understand you can't always please all customers. And we try as that's our living.

    Pros

If you need a job they are always hiring

    Cons

24/7 is the hours they are open and 24/7 is what they expect from you.

    Advice to Management

training was sporadic, no time to learn "brand standard", just expected to pick it up as we went...

    Pros

Tip money, you get to work odd hours (good for students), and it is easy to get hired.

    Cons

They will never, ever pay servers more than minimum wage. You may be scheduled for 20 hours/ week, but when the restaurant clears out early, they will send you home early. Whether you make enough money (with tips) depends on whether you get the highly prized, morning weekend shift, which can take months and months to get.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect, and pay them more than minimum wage.

    Pros

The customers are great. Also the staff is generally fun to work with and are willing to work hard.

    Cons

Denny's is by far the worst for compensation and bonuses paid to managers of any major restaurant chain. Managers who are favored are allowed any and all discrepancies. I have seen managers habitually late leaving servers at a loss, leaving shifts and going to bars, stealing cash and food stuffs, and letting servers run the restaurant on your shift. The good managers are not promoted and do most of the work. If you are good with the area manager, then you will be promoted. This includes being of the same race, and sex of the area manager.

    Advice to Management

Please stop promoting from within. Get new blood into your restaurants. The caliber of restaurant managers for Dennys is atrocious. The area I worked in condoned sexual harassment. Employees were not paid overtime. Cronyism was rampant.

I have been working at Denny's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The customers were interesting and the hours were flexible. These places are located in almost any city and the hiring process was simple.

    Cons

Bad tips. Terrible food, not a very progressive company. Tips were not always the best. certain locations were not kept up to standards.

    Advice to Management

    Do better

  11. This is the absolute worst company to work for. They are very unprofessional.

    I worked at Denny's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    There are no pro's here.

    Cons

They are filthy, serve out dated food, they follow no food safety guidelines, they are very unprofessional, they have the worst service, and no desire to improve.

    Advice to Management

Take a look at all your stores and the people who run them. You are loosing big money just on customer service alone not to mention the quality of the food that is being served to the few that do patron the restaurant. The reputation of the restaurant is well known. If you want to increase your earnings get involved in the stores and the people who run them. There is money to be made in this business if the upper management gets involved and fixes these issues. As far as a rating I give it a zero.
