Pros
It is a small company where you can establish relationships with most people at the company. Since many of the processes are not set in place, it is a great opportunity to implement fresh ideas.
Cons
The salaries at the bottom level are not that competitive. It is hard to bring about improvements within departments with the management in place.
Advice to Senior Management
Reward the people who do a great job at the bottom since these are the people who bring results to the company.
Pros
- Support work life balance.
- Some really great people.
- Salary is competitive.
Cons
- Lack of accountability throughout organization.
- Promotions not justified.
- Performance review process needs improvement. No metrics or peer reviews.
- Lacks adequate program for personnel training and development.
- New personnel suggest fresh and efficient ideas for improvement but are immediately confronted with road blocks due to long time staff who are intimidated and reluctant to change.
Advice to Senior Management
Fix the performance review process so that employees are properly rewarded for their accomplishments.
Pros
-people at the bench level are pleasant to work with.
-people at the lower level are technical and knowledgable
Cons
-collusion between people in upper management designed to undermine others efforts;
-lack of accountability, responsibility by upper management "Lead by Consensus" philosophy;
-decision making is done by consensus. If you disagree with the consensus (2-3 people in upper management) you are labeled a "problem";
-management approach is to take the shortest, highest risk route rather than the "right" approach. Often make decisions predicated on time lines rather than "correct/industry standard"" or "ethical" approach;
--promotions through Nepotism
Advice to Senior Management
Foster a culture of diversity in opinion & experience rather than going with the corporate "Bobble Heads"
