    Pros

Great people, fun environment, good attitude, good sales, looks great for your next career move

    Cons

Production is generally on fire, in the bad way. Upset clients. No firm process or adequate training on the informal way of doing things. Easy to hide mistakes, so projects spiral out of control. Low pay for job titles (though job titles are impressive).

    Pros

The company has fairly good design talent, although mostly based offshore. Many of the people there are very good people.

    Cons

They're in a market that's failing, they're not innovative, they're not a leader in the market, sr. management is not insightful, bad leadership.

    Advice to Management

Put someone in place who can lead.

  3. A lot of potential, but not much follow-through

  5. Start-up with interesting niche market and emphasis on creativity, but perhaps more of an interest in outsourcing work.

    Pros

Free soda. Free lunch on Fridays (may have changed now). I worked with many creative and hard-working people.

    Cons

Under-educated and inexperienced leadership. Questionable culture where certain kinds of behavior that would seem to run counter to productivity seems more permissible (perhaps this might be a "pro" for some..for me it was a distraction) . Incredibly uncomfortable in terms of actual physical location (there was no air conditioning in the office that I worked), and just generally poor job security due in large part to a lack of cohesive organizational structure. They are in the business of outsourcing basic development (html, some php) work to the Philippines, which they perhaps would like to obscure by calling themselves "an in-sourcing design" company. The technical side of the organization is is not scalable due again to the problems with organizational structure. Benefits are meager at best (no retirement/401k, lackluster health insurance, parking is a non-negotiable expense shouldered by the employees).

    Advice to Management

I'd suspect it will be very difficult for you to hire and retain quality employees in view of the current attitudes and policies concerning operations in the U.S.. I'd suggest a re-evaluation of how scalable the technical operations are now with the current organizational structure.

I worked at Design People full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are some creative and friendly people here. That's about it.

    Cons

Management and leadership have no idea what they're doing. They gave high positions to friends, no matter how incompetent they were. They had mass layoffs and did not pay the rightful amount to the people they fired until they got threatened with lawsuits. Benefits and salaries are below average, don't waste your time here.

    Advice to Management

Hire competent people and don't just put your friends in high positions. Keep up with the trends, technology, and proper business practices and maybe you can still dig yourself out of the miserable hole you got yourself into

I worked at Design People full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working with great people and dealing with one-of-a-kind clients.

    Cons

The management and lack of appraisals to tenured employees. No evaluations and a pay rise would only be given if requested for it. The job titles are awesome but the pay does not match the title.

    Advice to Management

    Look after your employees.

    Pros

The employees are easy to get along with.

    Cons

-Unfair labor practices -Below average salary -Premiums mandated by the government are not given -False promises -Wash rooms are comparable to a public toilet -The workplace is infested with cockroaches -The Philippine Office is run by an ill mannered company President -Managers know nothing about leadership. -An HR Manager who knows nothing about employee welfare -All decisions made are subjective and whimsical -It's the perfect company to be a victim of your own success. -The president Michael Bitanga loves to threaten and intimidate people. -The present an open door policy but when you express your grievances, their crosshairs will be on you. -Your salary gets deducted for lates and over breaks without seeing the breakdown of the deductions and you can't file a dispute.

    Advice to Management

Read the CONS and start from there. I have a labor lawsuit against the president, Michael Bitanga. Be man enough to show up in court.

    Pros

No mandatory overtimes. People can leave right after their shift which gives everyone the freedom to do other things outside work.

    Cons

Office Itself - Philippines Office - Old building - 3 Slow & dirty elevators - Unsecured with night-duty security guards are usually asleep - Has 2 floors but ony utilizes 50% per floor - Lack of security for both floors - Bad airconditioning - Unhygienic restrooms - Has cockroaches - One toilet can only be flushed by pulling a string - Once sink is supported by a rotting wood cabinet - Inadequate pantry area - Has a huge open trash can near the fridge - Microwave with broken frequency dial - Coffee vending machine that was never refilled by the supplier - Lacks manpower to refill cleaning materials or refill the mineral water dispenser - Lack of company nurse in case of employee health emergencies - Slow and old PCs, CRT monitors, lack of UPS in case of power outages, networks goes down from time to time. Management - Led by a President that is always never present except for meetings and bi-monthly general assemblies that are mostly reserved for his self-glorification speeches. - Brings his dog even if its against the company policy - Micro-managed all departments resulting in chaos due to work not getting done completely or not done right according to his standards that also led to on-going attrition of key personnel. - Claims existence of an open-door policy but will verbally humiliate and intimidate those who speaks up by reinforcing his authority & power - The president which is the sole signatory for checks and other important documents but is only present once or twice a week at the very most. Leaving a lot of important documents unsigned including back paychecks of former employees, present checks or new employees and suppliers. - Managers that are mostly internally promoted are only promoted due to tenure and not because of basic leadership skills. Practices - Processes are all verbal, usually executed out of convenience and whim of top management without any consultation across all levels of the organization - Overwhelming sense of perception management exist wherein employees not favored by top management will eventually be managed out one way or another. - Grievances are never addressed, only verbal assurances are given but no direct resoultion applied. - Lack of documentation on company updates such as compensation, people movement, inter-departmental updates, etc. Compensation and Benefits - Low basic pay - Night differential was haphazardly factored into the basic pay - Lack of hoiday pay on night shift employees but day shift employees enjoys a holiday off - Withheld incentives - Sub-standard HMO provider - Salaries paid late

    Advice to Management

Let the CEO, Tiger Bitanga, know what his brother, the President is really up to and not turn a blind eye on how this company is getting screwed up by Michael Bitanga.
