Pros
Smart, energetic people committed to solving difficult client challenges.
Cons
Two acquisitions in 18 months has resulted in turnover and loss of some company culture.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay closer attention to who you hire into senior management from the outside.
Pros
Strong history of corporate consulting means many talented people work at the company. Strong appreciation of client work and commitment to producing solid, valuable work for client.
Cons
Two acquisitions in the past 18 months, leadership changes and multiple reorganizations have taken a severe toll of staff morale and company earnings. Company has underperformed over the past year, and salaries and benefits have lagged. Mandates from parent company resulting in a significant shift towards "big corporate" culture, but with few of the attendant benefits.
Advice to Senior Management
Steer a steady course and pay closer attention to the effects changes are having on company morale. Pay very close attention to who is hired into senior leadership.
Pros
Their benefits package (medical, FSA and transportation) is great. They also offer free soda, tea and water. If you're a drinker, they love to have a happy hour. They'll celebrate anything.
Cons
Leadership does not listen. If you did not graduate from college, you're treated like you have the comprehension of a six year old. If you're a Georgetown graduate, however, you're golden. It's unfortunate that if you disagree with one person, you're done.
Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of the clique-like attitude. Listen and pay attention to what people are telling you. People are leaving there in droves for a reason.
Pros
Used to be the parties.
Cons
Management, Salary. They like to get people cheap and work them like crazy.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to get a clue in reality.
Pros
Great for young professionals - social and networking opportunities weekly and are encouraged overall. Young and forward-thinking corporate culture makes this an enjoyable place to work. Great co-workers make your day as well. Very professional and ethical company that takes pride in their work and what they deliver to their clients. Overall, this is a great job if you work at HQ (especially if you are just starting out). Free coffee and soda is a bonus too, especially if you are used to working at Fed jobs. Management does go the extra mile to make employees enjoy their time at work.
Cons
Be wary if one day you are told (as opposed to being asked) that you are going to be placed onsite at a Government Agency. They will talk this up as a great opportunity but you will essentially be a glorified secretary with little to no substantive work. You will also work long hours with no overtime if you are a Senior Analyst (Analysts do receive overtime). Also, if you are placed onsite, you have little to no chance of moving back to HQ without putting at least a year in. Some people have tried to move back to HQ and their only option was to quit entirely.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen more to the concerns of your employees and allow them more opporunity to grow in the ways/areas that they prefer. You won't lose as many quality people that way.
