Pros
The people! If it weren't for the excellent relationships I've built here, working late nights would be a lot more painful.
Great work environment/culture - casual, cool downtown office. Everyone works hard and plays harder.
People are encouraged to speak up, provide ideas and not worry about hierarchy.
Definitely get the "we're all in this together" feeling - whether it's good or bad news.
It's hard to imagine working anywhere else.
Cons
Deutsch can be slow on promotions as well as recognizing/rewarding hard work. This is truly the only downside in my opinion.
Advice to Senior Management
Management is doing a great job as far as providing an environment that is both stimulating and comfortable to work in. My advice would be to take a look at the employees who have been there a long time and try to reward them for a job well done, rather than wait for them to leave and come back as a Deutsch "Boomerang".
Pros
There are great opportunities here. It is possible to receive full-time after an internship. Company culture is relaxed, but everyone is motivated and determined to work hard .
Cons
There are really no downsides to working at Deutsch. As an intern, I would like more responsibilities.
Advice to Senior Management
All of the leaders are great at Deutsch. They're very busy all of the time.
Pros
-great culture
-ability to get your hands dirty and learn a lot
-creative environment
Cons
-culture is so great that people go without promotions and compensation
-some people in high positions don't deserve to be there
Advice to Senior Management
compensate those who deserve it
Pros
Great place to learn about the industry. Produce some great work. Intern lunches are great way to meet people in the agency.
Cons
Unpaid internship and must receive school credit.
Advice to Senior Management
no advice was a great internship.
Pros
Smart People. Fun laid back atmosphere
Cons
You might find yourself out of place if your not a downtown nyc kind of person
Advice to Senior Management
Better communication to the forces
Pros
Deutsch has the ability to win great pieces of business with recognizable and iconic brands. They are not afraid to pay for talent when they feel they've found it.
Cons
Unfortunately, Deutsch is not a great creative shop. Too much of the creative work they do is stale and expected. They have no respect or interest in creative outside of traditional advertising and the way to make it up the ladder at Deutsch has far more to do with who your friends are rather than your level of talent.
Advice to Senior Management
While traditional advertising is Deutsch's strength, educate yourself on newer and more innovative ways of engaging consumers. High priced talent isn't always the answer, good creative can stand on its own with our the use of celebrity.
Pros
Access to great clients and great fellow creative talent.
Cons
Political maneuvers rewarded more so than actual hard work and accomplishment. Internal advancement near impossible.
Advice to Senior Management
Tune in to the ranks below you. Recognition is way to hard to come by. Deutsch is full of unsung heros and over-decorated fools.
