    Pros

Mid-level professionals are quite talented and amicable. Generally a stable place to work. New management in Germany seems to be aware of many issues that have hurt the company in the past 5-6 years and may address some of the cons below.

    Cons

Poorly integrated IT systems. US management is not given bottom line accountability and poor managers are rarely fired. Heavy bureaucracy in Germany sometimes prevents things from moving forward elsewhere. All this has resulted in missed opportunities. Mid-level employees receive critiques from above and colleagues, but those above do not always receive feed back. Strong focus on fixed income could impact profitability.

    Advice to Management

Addressing the cons. Perhaps consider offering strategies that will offer more growth.

    Pros

Parent company is a great brand and good company overall to work for. Very large and global institution so there are opportunities to interact with lots of people from all walks of life.

    Cons

With so much change in the last several years, the business has been a hard place to work. I never truly felt like we were on an up swing during my time there. Leadership during this time was largely people who grew up in investment banking which made it frustrating at times. The business went through a potential sale and finally an internal merger with the wealth management business a couple years back and has a short timeline to turn the businesses around. Morale was low and fear was high when I was there. The business was very top heavy and cliquish which made it difficult for what little junior talent we had left to move up.

    Advice to Management

Hire more junior and mid level talent and stop giving your Directors and MD's "head of blah blah blah" titles. It actually is not that impressive to the clients I worked with.

    Pros

Good benefits system, manageable hours. not enough pros to fill the 20 word minimum. Do not recommend working for DB

    Cons

Horrible internal organization. Upper management hugely disconnected from their subordinates. Not a culture that motivates professional growth. Compensation not competitive

    Advice to Management

    Understand the products you manage

    Pros

The people are friendly, most people's hours seem manageable, offices in midtown Manhattan are nice

    Cons

Pay is weak, IT infrastructure and helpdesk are increasingly obsolete, management from CIB very arrogant and doesn't know the business

    Advice to Management

Listen to staff & clients rather than making unrealistic proclamations. Reward producers

    Pros

Deutsche bank asset management is a great brand, given the parent company deutshe bank was one of the few global banks not to require a bailout.

    Cons

Deutsche bank asset management is a great brand, but the funds management industry has taken enormous losses in recent years.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Big business here means plentyful work areas to dive into. lots of business partners (brokers, external research partners...) global business meaning collaboration on international scale

    Cons

Big business here also has a lot of politics... personal development is depending a lot on boss and team (performance, standing compared to other teams)

    Advice to Management

despite promises, there is still a lot of intransparency on decision making
